TLC describes this week's episode as follows:
Sarah welcomes Kate Gosselin and her children to Alaska. To prepare for a camping trip with the kids, Sarah takes Kate to a bear safety class for rifle practice. Then Kate and the kids experience the wilderness braving the challenges of camping in Alaska....lol.
Be that as it may, Sarah Palin tweeted,

Popcorn and pure enjoyment - the Palins, Heaths and 8 plus Kate!
Some people just don’t like to camp.
And kids who complain and camp anyway.
(they like it)
Sure, there might have been some creative editing but from what I’ve seen of Kate over the years (not much, mind you), that’s just the way she is. It’s no wonder her husband looked for greener pastures. You’re right about the kids. You can’t fake that.
I was just thinking, Todd don’t say too much, but I bet he was just grinning his a$$ off when Kate and her little crew left.
Bear bean bags? I don’t think so. If there’s a bear sizing me up for his next meal I want to know the first gun I grab isn’t going to be loaded with a silly little bean bag.
She’s sure taking heat on FaceBook, but that might turn into ratings for her shows too. I have no idea about the editing, only that editing is a large part of all shows and interviews and that editing can and does shape shows and interviews.
I also think that Kate’s whining and griping to magazines wasn’t helpful prior to the this episode’s airing, but the editing was already completed -— the series has been for sale on TLC for at least 4 weeks.
I think you’re most likely right: Kate Plus 8 is up for a contract renewal and perhaps TLC wants to drop her or get her and the kids at a cheaper cost.
The Bear Safety/Firearm Instructor guy put me off a little. In the classroom section he had a bit of a weird Timothy Treadwell vibe going.
On the range, no eye protection for the shooters or spectators (Sarah had her glasses on though). What’s up with that?
I doubt that would have been the case if Chuck Sr. had been there. Check out the action of Sr. in the gun shop, subtle but firm adherence to Jeff Coopers second rule of firearm safety.
Another great episode though, The folks in the middle are going to love Sarah before this is all over.
Kate probably believed all bears are like Yogi and Bo Bo and was horrified/scared sh**less to learn different :^)
Well, I agree with you about that!
Got a surprise today at church. Over the church dinner the guys were talking about hunting (they do a lot of that here)and as they walked to the fellowship hall, I asked our pianist if he had seen Sarah Palin shoot that Caribou. He said, "I sure did." Surprised me, so I said, "I love that woman." He said, "I do too." How cool is that. It was surprising that he was watching her show. Bet there are more of them out there than we realize.
Checking out time for me. Nite all.
I just finished watching it. I think what bugged Kate more than the cold and rain was how much fun her children were having with Sarah and her family. She was one jealous woman.
She can’t stand not being in control and regained it by threatening the kids with abandoning them. Not a nice person. I feel sorry for her. More sorry for her kids, though.
I invite them to my house. What a couple. They are capable of many things that piss the victims of the world off. First and foremost is constant life.
Piper said she liked the rain and Kate said “interesting” in her snarky way and Piper looked kind of hurt. She didn’t want anything to do with them after that. That was a real “good riddance” look on Piper’s face as they were leaving.
I was just thinking, Todd dont say too much, but I bet he was just grinning his a$$ off when Kate and her little crew left.
Heck, if that was the case, I wouldn't blame Todd for running up in the thick brush and taking his chances with the bears.
Now that there is funny I don't care who you are...:oP
I’m sorry I missed saying “good night” to you. I loved hearing about your church pianist! I am smiling. I’m sure you’re right that she has a lot of viewers and supporters among us whom we don’t know about until we have an occasion to ask!
You’re most welcome, as always and I want them in the WH too, along with her Dad and Mom!
I remember when Greta featured Sue living out there in the wilderness by herself... amazing. I can't remember why she lives out there all alone though, do you?
Tonight's episode of "Sarah Palin's Alaska" was my least favorite so far. I cannot stand the Paris Hilton of reality shows - Kate Gosselin. She was a whiner and complainer as billed, but I wonder how much of it was for real, and how much might have been staged. It seemed unfortunate mostly for her kids that the camping trip took place in a cold rain - Kate gave up and took off before the actual "event", and her kids missed out on more adventures and learning about the Alaskan wilderness. Couldn't they have waited to film the camp-out with Kate + 8 when the weather was better? The whole thing was strange, IMO.
Kate's kids are all adorable, but I really dislike how TLC felt they had to cross over into Kate's stupid soap opera world and bring them into Sarah's real world.
My husband refused to watch this episode (he's seen all the others so far). We're looking forward to next week's episode, and for the show to get back on track...
