White House officials said Friday that they have the 67 Senate votes needed to ratify a new U.S. nuclear-arms accord with Russia, and President Barack Obama will delay his planned vacation in Hawaii until the Senate votes.
The declaration came after Maine's two Republican senators, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, declared their support for the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty

No, a Treaty is almost impossible to break without grave geopolitical consequences. Legislation is a comparative cake walk.

There is ABSOLUTELY no reason to go along with this POS treaty. That wide eyed nut case in the oval office is the enemy of the state. Conspiring with foreign nations against this sovern nation is IMO treason.
Do you have any idea how vindictive and evil Obama is going to be after being humiliated by Clinton, yesterday? Like a purse fight in a gay bar!

No, a Treaty is almost impossible to break without grave geopolitical consequences. Legislation is a comparative cake walk. Yep. A treaty duly ratified by a 2/3 vote of the Senate becomes a part of the law of the land.

ETR, Boehner has nothing to do with this. All Senate.

Once again, McCain is selling out:
“Mr. McCain said, “I still hope we will be able to bring this up next week, and a lot of work is being done to that effect....I think we are very close.”

Bush broke the ABM treaty with ease.Yes, but that was a calculated move and was actually within the terms of the treaty. Technically he did not "break" it.
Treaties are the law of the land (Article VI Clause 2) and actually breaking them without the support of Congress is an impeachable offense. A nation does not back out of a treaty without a careful calculation of the consequences. That doesn't mean it is never done, just that it is not done lightly.

“Those public pronouncements suggest Republicans are willing to break with Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R., Ariz.), a skeptic of the treaty who has repeatedly said the accord can’t be voted on this year.”
Kyl is still fighting it — I bet his office would tell us who the other 8 Republicans are who are considering voting for this.

Hussein wants this and he wants it really bad! It’s almost like he has to get this passed, why? Why is this so important to him? What happens if he doesn’t?

Come on GOP...what are you thinking? This adds fuel to the fire. RINOs and democrats, and the people simply ask why. We, now, know you are not for our children, and never were, none who vote for this will be, for our children.

Thank you for the clarification. These amoral political hacks have made it abundantly clear that they’re all political hacks that need to go. The light of truth has never been clearer.

Bush broke the ABM treaty with ease. The fact that one of the signatories ceased to exist(Soviet Union) meant the the treaty no longer did either. That's not the case here.
To: ExTexasRedhead
this is about the Senate — Boehner is in the House not the Senate
treaties are submitted to the US Senate for ratification

The treaty was still in effect as Russia became the legal successor of the Soviet Union at the Union level.

The GOP is going to go down like the WHIG party and the Dodo bird, if they cannot learn from Nov 2. Keep this up and I will work to throw everyone of you out of office that are up in 2012. Don't care what percentage of the Senate we have in 2013 = we all know what to expect from the RAT party members,
BUT RINOS ARE FAR WORSE. What part of Nov 2 did you not understand? Vote yes for this ill conceived New START treaty at your own risk.
