White House officials said Friday that they have the 67 Senate votes needed to ratify a new U.S. nuclear-arms accord with Russia, and President Barack Obama will delay his planned vacation in Hawaii until the Senate votes.

The declaration came after Maine's two Republican senators, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, declared their support for the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty

"Congress won't leave before Start is done," said White House press secretary Robert Gibbs. "START will get done, and START will get done with a strong, bipartisan vote."

Also from the article:

Sens. Snowe and Collins are only the second and third Republicans to publicly declare their support for New START, after Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana. But eight others have suggested they will vote for it.

Lugar, Snowe, Collins...and who are the other 8?

I tell ya what, seems to me the REPUBLICAN PARTY still hasn't learned a lesson. Hussein is NOT TO BE ALLOWED TO COMPROMISE OUR SECURITY, dammit.

How idiotic are these people? They're agreeing with Hussein MORE than the Demon-rats in the House!

The RINOs are going to vote for the treaty. But there’s no compelling argument to ratify it.

Last year Ted Kennedy seat flipped because of Obamacare and we still got Obamacare.

After last months repudiation of everything Obama we can't even stall out this Treaty for a couple of more weeks?!

Dims didn’t even run anyone against Lugar in 2006. Why bother. He supports all their macro-agenda stuff.

And if START does not pass as a treaty, they are ready to ram it through as a piece of standard legislation attached to the Defense Appropriations bill, the same way they are going to stick us with DADT. It will be federal law “in the spirit” of the treaty.

Call Boehner’s office (Bonehead) and remind him of the November 5 2nd election and what the message that We The People sent was. It wasn’t this BS. How do we get someone to run against this RINO? I tried to call his office yesterday and his Mail Box was FULL! I’m sure the messages weren’t congratulations on his obvious caving and ignoring of the American people.

Let me guess, Murk'ski and Brown'ski in the mix?

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.” - Marcus Tullius Cicero

Why would you advocate calling the Speaker-elect when only the Senate votes on treaty ratification?

Same with McConnell's DC number. Busy/voicemail full. Disrespectful disregard for We the People.

Boehner cannot really do anything about this since only the Senate approves treaties.

If the Senate does not ratify Start III, they will try to ram it through as a normal piece of Federal legislation, likely attached to the Defense Appropriations bill (With the repeal of DADT). Many "treaties" have been passed as federal legislation to bypass the 2/3rds Senate requirement.

Should this happen, we will need the Republicans to shoot down the appropriations bill until these things are taken off.

Let us cross that bridge when we come to it. However, right now, the House is powerless.

One would certainly expect that McConnell and Boehner discuss our national security. I would highly recommend that Boehner inform McConnell and the gang that We The People sent them a message on November 2nd. They’re all in this together. Apparently, RINOs didn’t get the message; any of them! Calling Boehner and McConnell about everything disastrous for our country would be prudent at this point in our slide down the toilet bowl.

Don’t be suprised if the current version of the appropiations bill has this stuck into it.

And, Federal legislation is a much harder thing for a President to break, should we win in 2012. So, even if the treaty does pass, if a piece of legislation is passed by the House and Senate, and signed by the President, it would make it that much harder for a future President to break the treaty as it will also be Federal law. Presidents can break treaties at will, but not regular legislation. And, the Dems would include such a poison pill to hamstring a future administration.

Folks, it is over. We lost. Arm up, prepare to defend yourselves because counting on the criminal cartel in DC is like betting on their being no sunrise tomorrow.

There is ABSOLUTELY no reason to go along with this POS treaty. That wide eyed nut case in the oval office is the enemy of the state. Conspiring with foreign nations against this sovern nation is IMO treason.

The House doesn’t vote on or ratify treaties. Boehner will have nothing to do with this.
