On one of the most shameful days in the modern history of the Senate, the Republican minority on Thursday prevented a vote to allow gay and lesbian soldiers to serve openly in the military of the United States. They chose to filibuster a vital defense bill because it also banned discrimination in the military ranks. ...
The senators who stood in the way of these measures must answer to the thousands of gay and lesbian soldiers who must live a lie in order to serve, or drop out....
The Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, said that he would allow another vote on repealing the militarys dont ask, dont tell policy in a free-standing bill later this month. That long shot is likely to be the final test of whether the Republicans are interested in allowing military equality...
Another measure of overdue justice the Dream Act, which would empower the innocent children of illegal immigrants with education and public service opportunity barely survived a Republican filibuster in the Senate after being tabled by proponents hoping to drum up support in coming days. There is little sign of encouragement, however, for that good cause or others as the 111th Congress expires in the grip of Senate Republicans demeaning public service as an exercise of nay-saying.

You’d never guess that two thirds of the NYT newsroom is queer, would you?
Yes, just what we need.
Open sodomite harassment of the military.
The New York Times editors are so smart. What would we do without them?
Homo Hissyfit Hits Harry

I vote for “drop out”.
“. . . interested in alowing military equality . . .”
Nope, no bias there. Current score: fags down by one.
If homosexuals are proud of their behaviour, then why do they hide behind the euphamisms of “gay” and “Lesbian”? To me, gay still means “happy” and Lesbian refers to the residents of the island of Lesbos (if they are going to borrow a Greek word, then Sapphic would be more correct). If they are so proud, then why not be honest and call their parades “Homosexual Pride” parades?

Flaming homos and illegal aliens. Ain’t lookin’ good for the future of the U.S. military.
I vote for “shutting up and soldiering on.” If you can put aside your sexuality for the mission, then BZ.
I always go with the opposite of whatever the NY Times says.
No, they need to shut up and stop telling me about their sexual preferences.
Suspenders? How 80s . . .metrosexual fashion police report filed.
I don’t get the moose thing ?
explain plz
I vote for shutting up and soldiering on.
They won’t and they don’t.
Sulzberger has a stuffed toy moose that he used to bring with him to business meetings. Here’s one news account from a number of years ago:
“In assessing his job performance, it is useful to separate Sulzbergers two roles at the Times Company. As publisher of the Times, the two most prominent blowups during Sulzbergers tenure involved Jayson Blair, the young reporter found to have fabricated stories in 2003, and Judy Miller, a veteran reporter who was judged to be too cozy with government sources in the run-up to the Iraq war, and who later ran afoul of special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald in the Valerie Plame leak investigation. The details of both cases have been well hashed out (including in these pages), but as they pertain to Sulzbergers leadership style, both are instructive. The defining moment for Sulzberger in the Blair case came when he convened a townhall-style meeting for the staff and walked onto the stage with a stuffed toy moose, a symbol, he thought, that one should not ignore uncomfortable facts. But the impression it left was that he was tone deaf to the gravity of the situation and out of touch with the newsroom, particularly with the deep staff dissatisfaction with Sulzbergers handpicked executive editor, Howell Raines. Though Sulzberger initially supported Raines, as the scandal dragged on, he did a swift about-face, dumping Raines as well as managing editor Gerald Boyd.”
LOL, Cheers, Party Time. Good for the Republicans.
Crawl back under your rock, New York Slimes.
The New York Times stands for perversion.
>>If homosexuals are proud of their behaviour, then why do they hide behind the euphamisms of gay and Lesbian? To me, gay still means happy>>
When people refer to homosexuals as “gay” in the presence of my mother, she often informs them that she refuses to cooperate in the destruction of such a pleasant and cheerful word, and does not view homosexuals as being “happy” people.
I don't....don't drop out, just shut up. I don't care if you're gay, just don't expect me to react in a particular way....I will react as I see fit, if that doesn't please you ...too bad!!!
