LONDON In Britain's worst political violence in years, furious student protesters rained sticks and rocks on riot police, vandalized government buildings and attacked a car carrying Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, after lawmakers approved a controversial hike in university tuition fees.

I believe the UK recently raised the tax rate to fifty percent for their Wall Street types and other high earners. That sounds like Make the Rich Pay.
Then they should start deporting their illegals and non-permanent-resident aliens until there are some.
MAKE THE RICH PAY,, er, UNTIL I’M RICHIE RICH, THEN KEEP THOSE DAMN STUDENTS AWAY FROM ME!
Do continue, your ridiculously extreme moralizing is quite amusing.
But... you know what I think? I think you're one of those Masonic Blueblood Snobs who is just pissed - pissed I tell you - that Kate Middleton is not of Royal descent.
But you forget yourself, don't you? Prince William has chosen, and compared to your so-called "standing" you are worm at His exalted feet. Your superior has ruled indeed, and only a Masonic traitor would object. So mind your manners, wretched serf, or face the price of insolence towards your Prince.
:: sigh :: Keeping the lower degrees in line is such a bore...
In actual fact, the monarchy is a really good financial deal for Britain.
The majority of the wealth of the monarchy is tied up in what is called the Crown Estate. This isn't the property of the Queen, but it is the property of the Monarch and the Royal Family, and if the Monarchy was abolished legally the Crown Estate would revert to the family. Leaving aside the entire question of royalty and just thinking of the Windsors as just a rich family (like the Rockefeller or the Vanderbilts) etc, government can't just seize their property and assets - they have the same rights as anyone else.
Since the reign of King George III, there has been a deal in place (reconfirmed with each new King or Queen) by which the revenues and profits of the Crown Estate are given to the government of Great Britain to be used for the public good. In exchange for these revenues, the government pays the official expenses of the Monarch and their Consort. This is the money that Britain pays to maintain the crown. It is called the Civil List.
The Civil List amount is currently fixed at £7,900,000 per year. It has been at that level since 1990. That's quite a lot of money certainly. But...
The Crown Estate is currently valued at about £6,000,000,000. The income from the Crown Estate in a typical year is around £200,000,000 (the most recent figure for July 2009 to July 2010 is £210,700,000). That money is all given to the British treasury.
So the Treasury is giving the Queen £7,900,000 and getting back £210,700,000 - a profit to the Treasury of £202,800,000 this year. Put it another way - the Queen pays a functional income tax rate of 96.25% on the revenues of the Crown Estate.
(The Queen also has the income from the Duchy of Lancaster (around £10,000,000 a year), and the Prince of Wales has the income from the Duchy of Cornwall (around £16,000,000 a year) but even if you count these in (and bear in mind these are the profits of normal corporate activities and businesses/rents/etc), out of about £250,000,000 a year the 'Windsor Family' is entitled to in the same way any other wealthy family is (admittedly there aren't that many families that are that rich - on this type of measure the Queen is one of the fifty richest people on Earth, probably just into the top twenty), they get to keep about £40,000,000 and hand over £210,000,000).
Financially it's a good deal for Britain, unless people advocate seizing property without compensation.
Where was security to allow these people anywhere near him?
Good example of how an entitlement society rots the soul of a nation. Some are turning this into a debate over the concept of the Royal Family...which has nothing to do with what happened here - totally separate issue.
LOL!! Those are two Upper-Class Twits of the Year if I ever saw them.
I dont drink myself, but I also dont think the lassie is the whore of Babylon because she is a young person who has a few drinks in a nightclub once in a while.
Also, are you honestly saying lingerie is indecent?. She wore lingerie in a closed public show specifically to help a charity. Cant really see anything that indecent about what she did. Not as if she sashayed down the high street in St Andrews flashing her nether regions. BTW, she modelled many normal clothes for the charity, its was the skimpy lingerie that of clourse got printed by the press.
Yes, humans who have devolved into parasites are prone to unpredictable, instantaneous rages when provoked. It is a symptom of the atrophy of their prefrontal lobes due to lack of stimulation.
Easy. They are doing degrees in Politics or Sociology, where hard work is, frankly, optional.
Youre just jealous cos she looks better than Michelle Obama.
It wouldn’t...but attacking royalty immediately loses large sections of public support for their cause. That’s ok though, because the anarchist agitators leading the charge don’t care a toss about poor students struggling to pass exams. This is just another excuse to “have a go” at the establishment i.e. Western Civ capitalist democracy.
he was not actually driving the car guys.
Camilla or Kater-Tots? Frankly, I’m not jealous of that creature’s reputation (Kate’s) and answer me in all honesty, would you want a daughter-in-law with her reputation?
“Reputation” is the sum total of what OTHER people think. In other words, its a glorified collection of gossip. I prefer to make my own judgement of people based on what I know, and certainly rather than what Britain’s notoriously sensationalist and low-brow gutter press reckons.
