A source close to the family of the Lockerbie bomber Abdul Baset al Megrahi told Sky News Thursday his death is imminent and every day is "expected to be his last." Suffering from prostate cancer, the Libyan's health has rapidly deteriorated -- and his relatives said he has been in a coma and on life support for around a week. Al Megrahi -- who was convicted of killing 270 people by bombing a Pan Am jet in 1988 -- has been unable to walk for a number of weeks and is not expected to recover.

If Mr Bolton had read a bit further he would have found cables saying that the UK government was telling the US government saying this was a matter for the Scottish government, which happens to be what they were saying in public too.
So saying the UK betrayed anyone appears to be a factual inaccuracy, especially as the current UK Prime Minister was on record at the time as being against it.

They think they get away with murder, but justice catches up with them while theyre still panting from running so hard.Funny how hell hounds can catch you no matter how hard you run or where you run to.

So, the lesson *I* get about the death penalty is that it’s needed because if you send somebody away for “life” there’s no guarantee that some liberal judge or evil corrupt politican won’t let him out somewhere down the road.

His (Bolton’s) main point seemed to be that the US gave up prosecuting the death penalty on the guy, in fact gave up prosecution altogether, to allow Scotland to prosecute him.
Bolton was saying the US should’ve been much more engaged in dissuading the release of the perp.
