As Republicans consider their presidential options for 2012, they ought to discard two dangerously misleading pieces of conventional wisdom: that Sarah Palin and her tea party supporters represent a triumphant, even dominant force in American politics, and that more centrist, veteran GOP officeholders exert little appeal to the electorate.
National results in the last two election cycles conclusively disprove both assumptions: Palin's power as king (or queen) maker in 2010 produced spotty, unreliable results. And Sen. John McCain ran a stronger race and drew more votes in 2008 than outspoken conservatives who shared the GOP ballot with him.........
Conservatives always do worse than Moderates - per Michael medved.
ping
He’s a MITT supporter.
She is moderate.
Just another taking head....
Medved’s a moron. He should have stuck with movie reviews.
Between a moderate Republican and a Democrat I would take the Democrat. A moderate is like a person who is too sorry to work and scared to steal. They actually want to be a Democrat but do not have the courage to declare it. They have no principles. No core beliefs and bad morals and bad character. A Democrat is more trustworthy. At least one knows where they stand.
Medved can go to hell. I will be a son of a bitch before I vote for a moderate[read Rino] AGAIN. If it causes the Democrat to win, so be it.
You PDS folks make me laugh! No, really! Face it: Neither Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul or Chuck Baldwin will be the nominees for the Republican Party in 2012. You heard it here first.
McCain was more conservative than Romney or Huckabee. That’s why he won the primary.
WHO was our last conservative to do worse than a moderate?
Let me think.....
I am still thinking.
What a ridiculous article...a conservative Republican would have done a lot better than McCain. The Republicans didn’t win that race because they backed only socialist leaning Republicans and nominated McCain...essentially a socialist.
Try that again in 2012 and see how well you do, again, GOP.
Medved is an anti-birther like Hugh Hewitt, Boortz, O Reilly, Beck, Coulter, Ingraham and a few others. Sad because I liked Coulter.
These people are just entertainers.
He is absolutely not a moron, he’s just wrong with his political viewpoint. Even big-heads like Medved can be wrong on certain things. I’m not sure there are many folks alive more learned on American History than MM.
I couldn’t listen to Medved sing the praises of McCain, but he is the best historical authority on radio.
Palin is out candidate in 2012.
Ive got news for you. I dont even think she is going to run. She said if she began to be a sideshow she would not.
Michael Medved never misses an opportunity to assert that he is smarter than anyone in the room. OK Michael, you’re smarter than I am. But you represent the status quo. There are gradations of liberals in conservative disguise. David Brooks and that Frum guy represent the obvious phonies. Michael disguises it much better than they do. He represents the last defender of the hopelessly corrupt current system. McCain, Romney, even Huckabee have no chance of upsetting anything. His condescension to Sarah Palin is not going to be enough to torpedo her chances. She will not be making the compromises we are already seeing from Boehner.
No shock,,, Ivy league guy prefers ruling class type.
