What a bunch of garbage!
An elderly Manhattan woman living on Social Security was slapped with a $100 ticket -- just for throwing away a newspaper in a city trash can.
Delia Gluckin, 80, tossed the paper in a bin right outside her Inwood apartment building Sunday morning, only to be ambushed by an overzealous Department of Sanitation agent wielding a citation book.
"I was walking to take the subway downtown and dropped it in a trash can, and this lady in a blue uniform ran up to me," Gluckin told The Post.
"I thought she was going to ask for directions. She said, 'You just dropped garbage in there,' " according to Gluckin.
"I said, 'I didn't, it was just a newspaper,' and I offered to take it out," said Gluckin, who had tossed her Sunday Post out.
Sanit cop Kathy Castro wrote Gluckin the summons for putting "improper refuse" in a city litter basket.

Thanks for my new tagline. Hope you don’t mind, I did give you the cred!!!
It all relates to their crazy recycling crap. Liter is liter, garbage is garbage, except in NYC.
When you pick up a newspaper off the street, it is litter. I'd even say that when you brought your newspaper with you to the subway, read it on the trip and as you exited the subway threw it away, it's litter. But when you bring your newspaper [or fast food container or soup can or vacuum cleaner bag] out of your apartment and dump it in the city litter basket just outside your apartment, that's NOT litter, it is household garbage. That is what she did according to the article.
She said, 'You just dropped garbage in there,'
The green mesh can ... is marked with signs that read "litter only" and "no household trash."
... wrote Gluckin the summons for putting "improper refuse" in a city litter basket.
"Too many apartment dwellers use the corner litter basket as their personal household dumping site."
it is NOT about recycling or even litter.
It’s stunning.
Dont tell anyone, but I sometimes swipe the plastic bottles from the recycle bin to use as targets.
They carefully place them in plastic bags and I carefully blow the **** out of them at the rifle range.
Am I wrong? It’s recycling isn’t it?
litter
The range owner clears the whole lot off with a bobcat and it all goes back in the trash. Except the brass. We recycle that.
Anyone that wishes to recycle the bottles that we recycled is welcome to.
It’s recycling if you pack them with tannerite first :-)
Did I say “swipe” the plastic bottles? because I meant liberate.
I do!
Honest to jeez Ga.
I carry and refill the same bottle with water from the tap to drink from daily.
WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?
why is it their concern?
I used to call them yankees, but they come from all over with the mission that they know what's best for everyone and are hell bent on forcing people to do what they want (for the peoples' own good of course :-(
One last note.
Does anyone think the gubmint paid rube is vigilante about where all those recyclables go?
The minimum wage dipshits that are on the frontline of administering this stuff are idiots AND WE ARE PAYING THEM!
Bet you most of that stuff just gets pushed into a regular landfill.
When its full we will sell the swampland to some eco sucker and he can build his prissy house on it.
I like to call it “repurposing” or “reallocating resources”. I reallocate pallets from the dump all the time - when I’m finished with them, I cut them up and burn them in the firepit.
Abortionists do the same...and receive federal funding.
Careful...
I am a Yankee.
Actually I am a DAMN YANKEE.
I came down here bought land and fooled with yer wimmen ;)
Just be careful if its treated wood. *we dont need no toxic fumes in the house*
LOL That's why I said I USED to call them yankees, but although the urge to be militant busybodyies, sticking their noses in everyone's business is strongest in the northeast, no place is immune.
I dont do that.
Can I get a chicken fried steak?
It’s really hilarious
