IN 1958 a young Rupert Murdoch, then owner and editor of Adelaide's The News, wrote: "In the race between secrecy and truth, it seems inevitable that truth will always win."
His observation perhaps reflected his father Keith Murdoch's expose that Australian troops were being needlessly sacrificed by incompetent British commanders on the shores of Gallipoli. The British tried to shut him up but Keith Murdoch would not be silenced and his efforts led to the termination of the disastrous Gallipoli campaign.
Nearly a century later, WikiLeaks is also fearlessly publishing facts that need to be made public.
I grew up in a Queensland country town where people spoke their minds bluntly. They distrusted big government as something that could be corrupted if not watched carefully. The dark days of corruption in the Queensland government before the Fitzgerald inquiry are testimony to what happens when the politicians gag the media from reporting the truth.

These things have stayed with me. WikiLeaks was created around these core values. The idea, conceived in Australia, was to use internet technologies in new ways to report the truth.
WikiLeaks coined a new type of journalism: scientific journalism. We work with other media outlets to bring people the news, but also to prove it is true. Scientific journalism allows you to read a news story, then to click online to see the original document it is based on. That way you can judge for yourself: Is the story true? Did the journalist report it accurately?
Democratic societies need a strong media and WikiLeaks is part of that media. The media helps keep government honest. WikiLeaks has revealed some hard truths about the Iraq and Afghan wars, and broken stories...

I agree!
I don’t agree with him for releasing the info but the real person to look at is not Assange it is the queer private who stole the info and if wikileaks had not done this then another site would have.
The media has a problem with wikileaks, well no not really it is the media who has done the same as wikileaks but they are talking about him to take away from the queer private who is the real villain.
Every ,media outlet has done what wikileaks has done but not on this scale I wish people would wake up and see that the real culprit is the queer private but of course if the media talks about him then they would hurt their queer agenda, wouldn’t you FOX etc
Confused about that zot. What did they do?
nail on head.
No one in the media will talk about the queer private who is the real person to look at.
Why does not the media not look into the chain of command, why will they not talk about the queers stealing, how he did it why he did it?
It is pathetic how the media are manipulating the story to protect their queer agenda.
Because they’d assassinate him immediately?
LOL The same FNC which attacked Assange but then went on to report what was on wikileaks and how the British were told to release the terrorist, what that same FNC..
Notice how they do not talk about the real culprit, the queer private who stole the documents?
The media have done EXACTLY the same as wikileaks, infact they’re reporting what is on wikileaks and then they attack wikileaks but never talk about the queer where this all started.
nah no agenda in the media is there.
In two separate cells.
</bloodthirsty old bat>
nearly fell off my chair when I saw FOX slam wikileaks and then reported what wikileaks had on their site.
Hell no mention of the queer stealing the info or how the chain of command should be reported on and how this all happened.
Hell I hate our media
“Stop kicking people into the pit of death!”
AND NEVER mentioned that Manning was a disgruntled homosexual...
I remember the day the media found out it was a queer who stole the info and by 12.00 they stopped reporting about him and changed their reporting to wikileaks.
I’m just stunned how many are falling for the media’s corruption , even on here many are wanting to shoot Assange and yet ignore the queer private who did this all because of a queer agenda.
Course if the media did their job then don’t ask would look not good to repealing it right now and the media can’t have that can they.
Your posts seem to be a series of non-sequiturs. Like I said ... it was just a quote about killing the messenger. Sometimes the messenger gets what he deserves.
The rape charge is bogus and stupid ... and, if justice is done, Assange should spend the remainder of his life in custody.
SnakeDoc
Sometimes the messenger is not as innocent as he would make it seem.
SnakeDoc
you notice too how all of this fits into don’t ask, a queer agenda and a guy who should never have been in the military in the first place.?
Also notice how the media attacks wikileaks , never mentions the private stealing the info and thenn they report what is on wikileaks.
NY Times has done the same as wikileaks, FNC has done the same today, I bet other channels have too, so why is it alright for them to do this.?
I honestly do hate our media.
Many people on both sides of the aisle put them down and yet believe on their reporting.
The media is nothing but a corrupt group pushing an agenda like the queer agenda while lying and spinning the facts or even not even mentioning the story at all . i.e. black panthers,ACORN Ayers, queer private who stole the info the list is endless.
A mid-thread ZOT? I’ve been around a while but can’t recall if I’ve ever seen that before...
Oh sorry. I was referring to a quote in the spoof of “300,” “Meet the Spartans,” where “Leonidas” kept kicking people into the pit of death on top of the messenger until someone told him to stop. The movie gave me a stomach ache it was so funny, especially after I had seen “300” and enjoyed it so much.
Wow... smacked that pesky troll fast! I’m impressed.
