The House Republican Steering Committee selected Rep. Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) on Tuesday as the next chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, while Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) will be the next chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
The two were among the slate of new committee chairs elected by the 34-member committee, according to House GOP aides. The full House Republican Conference is slated to vote Wednesday on whether to ratify the panel's recommendations, a step that is largely a formality.
Rogers bested Reps. Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.) and Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) to win the appropriations spot. Kingston had been a favorite of tea party groups but signaled Monday that he had not won the support of GOP leaders.

“Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.”
> GOP says NO to Tea Party
This is not news to most FReepers.
Which of us is truly surprised?
Thought so.
The GOP elite just do not get it. They never really did, and they probably never really will.
Vote out the incumbents!
Primary the fGOP (f=formerly) CINOs, then win the elections. Lot of work ahead for us...
Now the Tea Party knows who to primary out next election.
And the Tea Partiers will sy NO to the rest of the RINOs in 2012
The ruling class lets the oldest political hacks have the committee chairmanships as usual. Nothing has changed. Mark every one of these good ol’ boys as targets to be primaried in ‘12.
RINO collaborators collude with RATS to destroy our Republic. Our work has just begun.
Time to target everyone who voted for Upton.
In the meantime, the "leadership" of the Republican Party itself remain a feckless bunch of marauding neocon-globalist phonies.
And the Tea Partiers will say NO to the rest of the RINOs in 2012.
This never was a one-election deal.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Got the usual send us money from Sen. John Cornyn. My response was
“I wouldnt give you morons a dime. You choose liberals over conservatives. Obama kicked you ass on trading welfare expansion for temporary tax rates. You put leftist in committee positions (upton). You do not represent the American peoples tide of the last election you represent more of what we voted against. Pathetic.
Regards”

Anybody that trust the republicans is a fool
This is a disaster for the Tea Party. The Energy and Commerce Committee is a huge chunk of the Tea Party agenda, and Fred Upton is one of the most liberal Republicans. This means that the Tea Party will get nothing—NOTHING—as Upton steers the committee to the Obama agenda.
The House Committee on Energy and Commerce has developed what is arguably the broadest (non-tax-oriented) jurisdiction of any Congressional committee. Today, it maintains principal responsibility for legislative oversight relating to:
telecommunications, [This will mean that the FCC not only controls the Internet, but brings back the “fairness doctrine”, and probably “net neutrality”. Big increases in prices of media, across the board.]
consumer protection, [Manufacturers can only produce what the government allows them to produce.]
food and drug safety, [Putting all supplements and herbs under the control of the FDA, with outright bans on most of it. Control of all food production and distribution—in the news just a few days ago.]
public health, [”Let’s make Obamacare work!”, will probably be Upton’s motto.]
air quality and environmental health, [EPA in charge of all carbon.]
the supply and delivery of energy, [No more energy production, even if gas prices go up to $20/gal. Coal dead. Nuclear dead.]
and interstate and foreign commerce in general. [The federal government controls all interstate and intrastate commerce. States must pay for endless unfunded mandates.]
This jurisdiction extends over five Cabinet-level departments and seven independent agencies—from the Department of Energy , Health and Human Services, the Transportation Department to the Federal Trade Commission, Food and Drug Administration, and Federal Communications Commission and sundry quasi-governmental organizations.
DeMint To Oppose “the Deal”
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 6:40 PM
Senator JimDeMint just announced on my program that he will oppose the deal as well as a vote for cloture on the deal. He is reluctant to criticize GOP Senate leadership, but believes the deal at a minimum has to be paid for, and that we need “a permanent economy” not a temporary one as well as permanent tax cuts, not temporary tax cuts.
Senator DeMint also expressed disappointment with the House GOP’s elevation of Hal Rodgers and Spencer Bachus to key committee chairmanships, noting that the revolution of 1994 failed in part when the old guard took control of committees despite the huge freshman class.

........and definitely no money for the GOP from the TEA party supporters.
We need to bankrupt the RINO GOP, vote out the RINOs, and have the TEA party conservatives at the local level take over what’s left of the Republican Party and become the delegates for 2012.
Take heed! Reince (Rynce) Priebus (Pre-bus), Wisconsin State GOP Chairman, is running for head of RNC. He is a RINO and the state party did nothing to support TEA party candidates. In spite of their efforts, conservatives won big throughout the state.
