Helen Thomas's latest may be too much for the Society of Professional Journalists.
If your lifelong ambition is to win the Helen Thomas Spirit of Diversity Award from Detroit's Wayne State University, you might as well end it all now. Thomas's alma mater terminated the award Friday "after she made controversial remarks in Dearborn on Thursday...
As you might expect, Thomas is not happy with Wayne State's decision. "The leaders of Wayne State University have made a mockery of the First Amendment and disgraced their understanding of its inherent freedom of speech and the press," she told the Free Press. "The university also has betrayed academic freedom--a sad day for its students."
We suppose she could hire a lawyer and sue Wayne State on the ground that removing her name from the award is tantamount to censorship of protected speech. We like the university's odds of prevailing in that one. As for academic freedom, are we to understand that Thomas claims to be engaged in scholarship?

“... as ugly on the inside as she is on the outside...”
Of course Helen has the right to free speech.
In the same way that I have the right to tell her to go to hell.
Any number of middle east universities would be happy to name an award after her.
Beauty is skin deep, ugly goes clear to the core.
The “one time slip” is whatever leftists are supposed to keep to themselves while they dominate and destroy the world.
In the same way that I have the right to tell her to go to hell.
And the folks at Wayne State University have the right to tell her to go to hell as well.
Maybe, but she sure is a looker.
The perfect trifecta! Helen Thomas is evil, ugly, and stupid. Freedom of speech and of the press does not include a guarantee that there will be no penalty for advocating evil, and anyone who understood America would know that, nor does academic freedom include the "freedom" to receive an award named for the ugliest bigot alive. This woman is so filled with hatred and intolerance that it's no wonder she is loved by the far left, which only gives lip service to those concepts.
Where does the First Amendment talk about gratuitous awards handed out by universities?
I don't know who first said it, but I think the first time I heard it Johnny Carson was the one who said, "Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clear to the bone."
Helen just hasn’t been the same since Adolf bought the farm.
Helen, shove it up your Obama.
That's why it'll never happen.
So why then was she “loved” so much by the MSM including the NYT? The Grand Dame” of the White House Press Corps. All of those losers whould just march in lock step into the sea like a bunch of lemmings!
seanmerc, just when you thought it was safe...she's baaaaaack....

Still doing the mitten proud.
Jeez, you came this >< close to owing me a new keyboard! ROFLMAO!
Yep. I think she was born in Kentucky, though. It's A-okay by me if Kentucky claims her as their favorite daughter...
