TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Dozens of ultra-conservatives plan to gather in Bartlesville Monday night to protest the Legislature's plan to focus more on the economy than on social issues.
The more conservative Republicans, including tea party members, want lawmakers to focus on abortion restrictions, immigration and fewer regulations on firearms. Republican leaders who will direct the agenda want to concentrate first on improving Oklahoma's struggling economy.
Charlie Meadows, with the Oklahoma Conservative Political Action Committee, said Monday he expects up to 200 protesters.
Meadows says Monday's gathering at the Bartlesville Community Center is a way to send a message to Republican lawmakers that voters don't want them to be "puppets on a string."

A GOP run by and for the spineless centrists is no party I wish to be a part of.
Aww, but I was havin’ fun!
The point I was trying to make is that in every one of these threads, we get clowns arguing that it would be beneficial to dump social conservatives.
Every. Single. Thread.
Point hopefully driven home. Thanks guys.
I guarantee you, if you were to remove funding for such things as planned parenthood (abortion) or some other social program intended to alleviate the consequences for poor choices,
those who scream about religious zealots would be complaining that we were “imposing our values” on others.
Do you get it now? You can’t separate the “fiscal” from the “social”. In order to be socially liberal, the consequences for bad behaviors will have to be paid for with social programs.
Problem is that liberaltarians want to classify anything that is not specifically financial as a social issue. Conservatives know that abortion/Declaration issues, gay marriage/first amendment issues, RBKA/2nd Amendment issues, federal/state/ tenth amendment issues, immigration/fourteenth amendment issues and Kelo/private property/fourth and fifth amendment issues, as well as fiscal issues are all important. Like most RINOs, Liberaltarians don’t really care whether the govt operates as the people intended constitutionally. They just like telling the other 95 percent of the population where to go.
Things were pretty back a thousand years ago when a conquering warlord was married a kid, denied the divinity of Jesus, proclaimed himself God’s perfect man, and oppressed many people, enslaving billions over the subsequent millinium.
And in the 20th century, Fascism and Communism killed well over 100 million people.
But to put it in perspective, Americans killed 50 million babies via abortion since 1973 because a life was no longer sacred.
There are times when you have to tell the adolescents NO...
Point hopefully driven home. Thanks guys.
I thought I pretty much understood you but I still felt compelled... you know. I'm getting tired of some of the repetitive attacks on our basic principles around here, too.
Eternal Vigilance.
Yeah, I hoped people would pick up on the sarcasm.
Anyhoo, add a book recommendation to my homepage!
Clean out all the illegals in your state & keep them out.
Very funny! Searched, 'Nevada tough illegal immigrant laws' and got...
'Possible new Nevada illegal immigration law facing hurdles | KVOA' and 'Nevada illegal immigration petition dropped.'
'Oklahoma tough illegal immigrant laws' resulted in:
'Oklahoma's crackdown on illegal immigration draws Texas lawmakers' 'Oklahoma targets illegal immigrants with tough new law' 'Oklahoma Gets Tough On Illegal Immigration'
Note to Nevada desert dwellers:
Practice what you preach!
Sarcasm is tough in an open forum environment. That's why Jim made it a rule to include a tag. Too many misunderstandings. (I was *pretty* sure but not 100% convinced... but I've seen your name around and wasn't too worried. :0)
Good point. History over the millennia is littered with the unjust murder of millions. And as your numbers show, I think we turned a corner around 1900. I think were seeing an intensification of evil unparalleled except for maybe before the flood in Noahs day. Scripture says that it will be like Noahs day when the end comes. I believe were close.
Precisely.
You cant separate the fiscal from the social
Sure we can. It's right there in Article 1, Section 8.
Understood, but I wanted to have some fun...
Ultra right wing.
It’s like ultra clean OR:
Ultra clever.
Super smart.
Bullsh*t. DU is that way -—>
Tag it next time please. Most of us are notorious "post first, read rest of thread later" types. It'll save you from getting flooded. ;-)
FRegards,
Hey... A guy can dream can't he? ;-)
I was stirring the pot a bit, I admit.
My point of view is that Christian morals simply reflect the way God made Creation. If you break His moral law, you’re gonna experience negative consequences.
Therefor, we don’t have to have the State making laws against these things, just don’t allow the State to subsidize immoral behavior by alleviating the consequences at the expense of others.
The morality issue will take care of itself.
