I don't know about you, but I voted in November to send a message to stop run-away spending, stop government expansion, and defend our country from our enemies. I voted against incumbents, both Republican and Democrats, who voted against my wishes. Yes, I celebrated with my compatriots across the country who voted the same way I did. Unfortunately I am sensing that this new class of politicians may disappoint just like the last one!
Already I am getting a sinking feeling in my gut that this new crop of politicians may fall prey to the same inside the beltway disease. I did not vote for "business as usual," but instead I voted for representatives who would begin to dismantle the damage done over the last two years by the current administration. As Mark Meckler, from Tea Party Patriots, said, "If this new bunch of representatives doesn't do what we want, we'll toss them out also until we elect ones who will."
When these candidates were running for office earlier this year, they were asked about the "Contract from America" as a blueprint for actions. Some signed up to endorse this list, while others danced and weaved around the question because they couldn't support one or two actions. These ten items sure looked like a common sense list to guide their initial days in office.
When these candidates were running for office earlier this year, they were also asked about Congressman Paul Ryan's "Road Map for America's Future" as a comprehensive plan to begin to address the debt burden facing this country. A few endorsed this approach while others bobbed and weaved around the question to avoid getting linked to some of the more controversial elements in the road map.
Finally the Republican Party published a "Pledge to America" ...

Maybe we should at least permit them to move into office BEFORE we claim our newly elected representatives are all RINOs???
There is an epidemic of cynicism going around, isn’t there?
Given the kind of politicians we’ve been confronted with for the last couple decades, it’s not really surprising.
The best thing we can do is to keep the pressure on the “kids”(freshmen) to get “good grades” by voting right and sponsoring useful legislation.(Obamacare repeal, for ex.)
Even if it fails in Congress or is vetoed by 0, strong conservative legislation will send a message.
All of the Reps in the House should be on 22 months probation.
Either they straighten up and fly right or they get left behind.
They need to have it impressed on them that there is a very impatient, snarling electorate back home ready to boot them out of Congress immediately unless they behave like good little conservative boys and girls.
The great thing about the House is it’s within our power to remake it every two years. The Senate, on the other hand, is a much tougher nut to crack. Until we vote out the likes of Reid, McCain, Boxer, and Murkowski, the Senate will block every attempt to move the government to the right. Methinks we need a major culling of incumbents in BOTH parties.
Talk about cutting defense spending back to more affordable levels and people scream. Talk about reducing healthcare to seniors and we get this talk about death panels and killing grannies. Talk about reducing social security benefits and people yell about something owed to them.
Austerity will be forced upon us since no one is willing to make the hard calls.
Of your three programs, only one is a constitutional mandate, and it isn’t healthcare or SS.
The party is over, and DC will figure that out.

Yes, but a quick cure would be legislation repealing 0bamacare, and extending the Bush tax rates. For starters.
Then, I would like to see subpoenas, lots of them. Starting with Eric Holder.

Very good point. Too many of the “principled conservatives” around here are totally invested in failure.
The lesson seems to be lost on the lame duck congress.
It’s exactly like old times for them.
We need to raise hell with their phone lines every time a bill comes up for a vote.
Just 4 weeks left for this congress...we can assume that every day is worthy of a protest.
Pelosi has the House in session this AM (Sat). You can sure she is up to no good.
Yeah, and they haven't even done that yet...the fact that they won't be sworn in and take over until next month is really no excuse, eh?
I don't think a sarcasm tag is really necessary here.

“Maybe we should at least permit them to move into office BEFORE we claim our newly elected representatives are all RINOs???”
We can’t do that. It would ruin the daily FR Gloom and Doom parade, not to mention the Surrender Monkey Circus.
One freeper told me that the ChiComms will be paddling over any minute now in a giant landing flotilla to kill us all, and the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines will start rounding us up any day now. But first they have to kill their families. BTW, there’s at least 50 UN divisions hiding in the Texas sagebrush ready to jump out and get us all.
They should be here with the white surrender flags any minute.
I have that same “feeling” ... that maybe these folks are starting to cave a little. Except you make an excellent point ... they aren’t in office yet! What we are seeing is a Dem lame duck congress trying to push everything through before they get thrown under OUR bus. So we have to be careful not to let those “feelings” taint the new folks. The day they are in office, they are accountable TO US. And if they cave, then we’ll make some different plans.
Yep, and I might have won the lottery but I won’t know until after 7 tonight.
When they actually take office their votes are fair game for approval or disapproval but these articles are just for controversy and attention.
The only thing I can imagine being very difficult to undo is amnesty. Let's pray that doesn't happen.
I agree. Lets give them one session of Congress to see if they are going to walk the walk. If not we need to get back out in the streets for a few more tea parties.
