Army launches probe over Arlington National Cemetery remains
By Jade Walker 1 hr 51 mins ago
The U.S. Army has opened a criminal investigation at Arlington National Cemetery after the cremated remains of eight people were dumped into a single grave, The Washington Post reported.
The urns were discovered last October in a grave site marked "Unknown," even though cemetery records showed that only one set of remains was to be buried there. Since then, Army investigators have positively identified three of the remains and notified the families, USA Today reported. Officials are still trying to identify the other remains.
"When there's eight sets of human remains in one grave, it's most likely not a mistake, so we have to look into whether there is any criminality involved," Chris Grey of the Army's Criminal Investigation Command said.
The cemetery has been plagued with burial issues in recent years, much of which has been blamed on dysfunctional management and contracting problems. Last June, an Army inspector general's report cited widespread problems at the country's most prestigious military burial ground, including more than 200 unmarked or misidentified graves.

File this under, “No way in hell this is either understandable or excusable”.
I’m glad these these problems are being corrected but I’m sickened by the unnecessary publicity.
From previous reports the incompetents running Arlington were using a card file to manage burials that was obsolete when Eisenhower was President. My bet is that those in charge of Arlington were political patronage positions who operated with no oversight. This recent revelation of 8 sets of remains being buried in a single grave was a deliberate act and those responsible should be sacked immediately.
This is beyond pathetic...
Urns discarded in landfills.
Multiple bodies in graves.
Bodies missing from graves.
Headstones discarded in the bottom of a stream.
Other headstones missing.
Bodies buried in incorrect plots.
No accurate records.
Sexual harassment of employees.
Malicious firings of whistleblowers.
Illegal invasions of personnel files.
Rumored misappropriations of funds.
They need to be stripped of their pensions and spend the rest of their miserable lives in jail.
There’s a lot to be angry about when one looks at the antics of our government.
But nothing makes my blood boil more than reading about this travesty, and I’m sure we don’t know the half of it.
It’s bad enough that incompetence is the m.o. of most government functions, but the idea that those entrusted with this sacred responsibility...I just don’t have the words. It physically sickens me that this the best we can do for our fallen heros while the traitors in our ranks live in the lap of luxury at our expense.

Well stated, my friend!
f'ing disgusting, pathetic and dishonorable thing that these punks have done to our men. I'd love to jack them up against the wall and kick the cr#p out of all of those fat lazy bast@rds.
The supervisor needs to be fired and pension taken as well as whoever was "in charge". Gawd, I'm p#ssed. Just thanks for getting my blood pressure up.
Yes, chrisser stated it perfectly.
I clipped from chrisser because in my mind there wasn’t much more to say beyond that.
Did anyone check Arch Stanton’s grave to the right? /levity as a tension breaker for a very serious issue
They should be forced to dig graves by hand for the reburial of all that were mis-buried.
Just out of curiosity, how can you positively identify cremated remains?
