Scotland Yard 'will arrest wanted WikiLeaks boss today'

WikiLeaks supremo Julian Assange could be arrested in Britain today over sex allegations.

Scotland Yard detectives were last night preparing to detain the 39-year-old over claims of rape and sexual assault in Sweden.

An extradition warrant is expected to be passed to the Metropolitan Police today or early next week.

They have apparently known for over a month where Australian-born Mr Assange, who is in hiding in south-east England, is staying.

He supplied the force with his contact details upon arrival in Britain in October, said his London-based lawyer.

It today emerged that Mr Assange only escaped arrest yesterday because the Swedish authorities filled out an Interpol arrest warrant incorrectly.

No more unusual than the road signs to Dorking and
Suckley. Only the Austrian town of F*cking is more
bizarre.

Wikileaks put out a file called "Insurance" with 256-bit encryption a while back.

They have said if anything happens they will release the password.

“but is a law that a woman that says no to having sex without a condom is rape.”

so if a woman says no to sex with a condom, that’s not rape?

Big deal. It’s idiotic to focus only on Julian. Are we to believe that he’s doing everything alone? Arresting this guy on trumped up charges won’t solve a thing.

Yes, but it’s easier to just think it’s one persons fault. Once they collar the Boogeyman everything can go back to ‘normal’.

Something tells me Mr Assange has probably left the UK by now...especially after you announce you will arrest him.

It would be easy for Assange to leave the UK undetected...he can dress like a Muslim. Muslims get a free ride in the UK

Assange is only the top creep at Wikileaks.
They need to arrest and charge the entire Wikileaks staff with espionage.
If they don’t set an example with this guy then there is no expectation of anything secret or secure ever again.

I hope he has a failsafe set of documents all about Obama, either a leverage tool or something at the very least gives information.

"so if a woman says no to sex with a condom, that’s not rape?"

LOL - I think you've got him boxed in.

I'm not sure the story that's linked to in this thread get the details exactly right, but they're on the right track. Assange, for all his other problems, probably isn't a "rapist", at least not in the way we in the US (and most of the developed world) understand that term. But, he may be a filthy scum-bag who will say and do anything to bed a woman.

More can be read about the details of what happened in this story from last August, when the original charges were dropped shortly after they were filed.

Supporters dismissed rape accusations against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange... but the two women involved tell a different story

But not over endangering the security of 150 countries and billions of people? REALLY!

One thing at a time. Remember, they got Al Capone for tax evasion.

I’d sure like to know the real story behind the rape allegations. Seems so convenient. Also wonder what the extradition situation with Sweden is, as it applies to US espionage charges.

He is wanted for questioning only. Given that he has not been formally charged there are some serious questions whether or not the EU and Interpol warrants are valid

My very first words were “Non consensual sex is rape.”

Good grief.

I wouldn’t get too bent out of shape about it. It was a throw-away line, and my intent wasn’t to “talk about you”. If you took it that way, I apologize.

In that case maybe they’ll only send Old Scotland Yard after him.
