A judge revealed Wednesday what he called a disturbing motive behind the murder of Matthew Chew as he walked home from work in New London Oct. 29.
Six teens appeared in court Wednesday to face various charges in connection with the murder.
Reading from a sealed arrest warrant, Judge Kevin McMahon said the group beat Chew to death for "no reason" other than "because they were bored", according to a report in The Day of New London.
Idris Elahi and Marquis Singleton, both 17, are charged with Chew's murder. Brian Rabell, 18, and three 17-year-olds, Tyree Bundy, Matias Perry and Rashad Perry (no relation), are all charged with accessory to murder.
McMahon blasted police, who initially said Chew was using his cell phone to buy drugs at the time of his murder, and that the attack was drug related, the paper reported.
"I'm not happy with the police department's conduct," McMahon said. He continued that the victim's actions that night had "nothing to do with his death", according to The Day.

2 - Aren’t there things that can be done *to* the police because they lied? If under-oath they can certainly be charged with perjury.

America threw in the towel because it felt guilty; and because it kicked God out of society. And now we see daily what that guilt and rejection of the Almighty has wrought.
It probably does. However, I don't see the AA community doing anything to address the problem. Indeed, blacks who speak to the issues (e.g., Sowell, Cosby, etc.) are reviled in the black community because they point to blacks as the cause of the problem. Sharpton, Jackson, et al all want more money thrown at the problem, and they always play the race card even though they can guess that race isn't the issue (e.g., the Duke lacrosse case). It just seems to me that the AA community isn't willing to accept responsibility for anything that touches their lives, from raising children to educating their children. We've thrown billions into the War On Poverty since it was declared by Johnson and what do we have to show for it? A recent report said poverty is worse now than it's ever been. Time to cut the entitlements and let people sink or swim.

Without looking at a pic of the victim, I will guess that he was white. If he was white I will venture that this was not a “boredom” crime but a black on white hate crime, either that or they were taking part in a killing as an initiation into a gang. To try to put the onus on the victim by accusing him of doing a drug deal is BS and just another example of PC gone wild in the USA, something we need to stand up and fight back against.
I hope they’re bored out of their skulls. Maybe they can thin out the death row appeals roster out of sheer boredom.

I think I can pretty much reconstruct it. This was a white guy who was stupid enough to try to buy drugs from six inner city blacks.
So he flashed his cash, and they figured, well, why sell the drugs to this stupid whitey, when we can keep the money AND the drugs for some extra profit. Plus we get all the fun of beating a stupid whitey to death, who is too dumb to know that this is OUR territory and he is only here on sufferance. Which we hereby withdraw.
no flaming here. However when you deliberately murder someone because you are bored...then those who are responsible should pay. No need to blanket one race or religion or any of that. Just punish the guilty party/ies and be done with it. There MUST be justice for the murdered victim and their families. That is the only right way to handle it. I don’t care what color someone is, how they practice faith if they have one or what happened in their past. The present is what counts. If we would deal with things that way maybe there would be less crime. Who knows?
The incoming governor says he will sign a bill abolishing the death penalty in this state. That issue almost cost him the election. Let him now explain why these animals deserve to live.
