Liberals and the Coming Redistribution of Fault
The American Thinker ^ | December 02, 2010 | J. Robert Smith

Posted on 12/02/2010 3:42:55 AM PST by Scanian

It's coming. Expect it. Liberals blaming everyone and everything but themselves for the nation's continuing economic crisis. And the mounting crisis of government. It's already begun, in fact, over at U.S. News and World Report, where Mortimer B. Zuckerman dusts off Oswald Spengler's Decline of the West to mull over the notion that the West -- including the United States -- may be reaching the end of the line.

Let's congratulate Zuckerman for pointing the way in the coming attempt to foist blame on Western civilization for what is, essentially, a failure of leftism. Let's acknowledge, though, that Zuckerman appreciates that the United States and Western nations can no longer sustain profligate government. But Zuckerman's angst is misplaced. American and Western civilizations deserve no general indictment.

Leftism deserves the indictment. The left's failure -- here and abroad -- may just prove stupendous, and that's something that American liberals and European socialists can't abide. Hence the coming compassionate redistribution of fault.

If the United States and the West ever decline and are eclipsed, the root cause will be the failure of peoples to throw off and marginalize leftism -- intellectually, culturally, and politically. Leftism is a cancer that needs to be excised; doing so is critical in restoring societal health, here and in Europe.

The immediate crisis isn't with Western civilization, however; it's with a deviant strain in the West called leftism. Leftism's fullest manifestation is in the state. Leftism is deviant in that it's a marked departure from the notions of natural rights, individualism, and liberty that germinated in the Renaissance, began flowering during the Enlightenment, and reached a fuller realization in American civilization with American independence. Leftism is a denigration of the highest virtues of western life.

Zuckerman writes:

These Progressives control our language (they decide what a crisis is and what to do about it) and or media (all our information is generated by them as Socialist propaganda) and I feel like Captain Obvious.

No kidding!!! The government deficits in Western Democracies simply reflect the failed utility of the modern Welfare state.

Of course, most liberal narcissists will just claim that we haven’t yet taxed or spent enough...or don’t have quite the right Ivy League mix administering the mess...

Not only do they decide what is a crisis, at times they do their best to create them.

The jury is still out on whether the TSA mess is a case in point.

The commission recommended a flat tax. That means that the poor will be required to pay their fair share.

The top is tapped out.

Time to tap the free loaders at the bottom

Sure, all the lefty wiseguys who look for face time on the cable channels and show their asses in the print media will be among the first on the chopping block, if commie history is any guide.

You say that sarcastically but there is a unavoidable truth there that the Left simply refuses to acknowledge.

The government simply can not tax the rich in the same way that it does the poor and the middle class.

The rich has the means to avoid government taxation above a certain level. If the government tries to tax the rich above a level that they are willing to pay they will use the resources they have to find a way to circumvent the excessive tax.

The Left always brings up how prosperous the US was under a top marginal tax of 92%. What the Left never mentions is that the rich never actually paid at that tax rate.

The rich are rich because they are smart and resourceful people. They have the resources and influence to keep what they earn. We the common people only have our numbers. We live and die together. We have to come together and say with one voice “We are TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY.

And the leftists spread the illusion that slavery has ended.

We don’t do central planning. This isn’t going to be pretty.

The US was in pretty tough shape in the late 70s, articles about it being all over were everywhere,The Japs were buying everything in America, they were going to own us, inflation, gas lines, high unemployment, wars even a misery index. Guess what party was in control then? And who came along talking about the city on the hill, restoring confidence in America?

“We don’t do central planning. This isn’t going to be pretty.”

By virtue of the fact that central planning and socialism don’t work...they are inhuman systems.
