HOUSTON – Nine Houston-area residents are facing charges in connection with the largest PCP seizure in DEA history.

Andre Smith, 52; Samuel Joseph Jackson, 35; Tyrone Dewayne Roberson, 38; Michael Ardion, 50; Archie Deneshe Harris, 34; Cameo Deshawn McAfee, 24; Joseph Lamar Broussard, 37; Karola Johnson-Gant, 43; and 32-year-old Chatela Jackson were arrested Wednesday and charged with conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute PCP and possession with the intent to distribute PCP.

The arrests came after an 18-month investigation by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force dubbed Operation Scratch Off.

The task force included DEA agents, U.S. Marshals, Houston and Pasadena police officers, the Harris and San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Offices and the Texas DPS.

During the course of the investigation, task force agents seized a total of 57 gallons of actual PCP—the controlled substance itself, rather than the chemical components used to manufacture it.

"The success of the investigation leading to today’s arrests is a result of the close and sustained cooperation between DEA and our law enforcement partners to target and remove drug trafficking organizations operating in and around the Houston metro area," said Thomas Hinojosa, acting Special Agent in Charge of the DEA. "This investigation highlights the ability of law enforcement agencies in Houston to work together to make our communities safer."

The nine arrests bring the total of suspects charged in Operation Scratch Off to 11.

Each suspect could face up to life in prison and a $10,000,000 fine upon conviction.

I say they get less than a year unless they have records.

In my misspent youth, PCP was one of those things I never got around to, seemed like it was a fightin’ drug.

Isn’t it a horse tranquilizer or something?

I remember something about a smokeable mixture that was described as "PCP on mint leaves" and called "Angel Dust". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phencyclidine

It didn't appear to do the guys who smoked it any particular good -- they got real goofy for about 15 minutes and then fell down. Got back up later and swore it off.

"Horse tranquilizer" does ring a bell, but that was all about 40 years ago so the memory doesn't serve well...

I’m amazed that there is still trade in PCP. I grew up among some pretty enthusiastic druggies back in the 1970s and even then people generally knew better than to do that stuff.

Today on the radio some medical guy was admonishing kids against smoking nutmeg.

So THAT’S what made the eggnog so dangerous? lol

And I can make some pretty dangerous eggnog :)

From what I could see, PCP made quaaludes look like ups.

I never understood why people do downs anyway.

Reading the names of those arrested confirms my ideas about the “demographic” that likes PCP. Tyrone.

Federal sentencing guidelines for hard drugs are extremely harsh. Minimum mandatory sentencing makes plea deals for 20 years quite likely in this case. Trial would possibly net a life sentence.

You don’t want to go into Federal court on dope charges.

Since it was liquid they caught these folks with then it was to be used as angel dust...soaking parsley for smoking...a black thing....back in my day anyhow

we white boys did monkey or space dust..very infrequently I might add....this was not fun like Quaaludes by any means

in the late 70s it would have been PCP or ketamine...one of the two...cousins in the livestock trank world

our’s was in alkaline powder form...you could smoke it in a bowl but most folks snorted it or just swallowed it in a drink

it was like being very drunk or barbed out and a bit trippy or very trippy at high doses

u ever see a cat tranked up for surgery at the vet...drooling...eyes wide open...seeing nothing...frozen

that is either of these bad boys in big doses

sounds like loads of fun huh?

standing at the urinal at McKinnon Hall-Dorm at Ole Miss all of us staring at the wall laughing like madmen forgetting we came in there to pee...that stuff is very dehydrating

a low point...my Keith phase

57 gallons is a helluva lot of PCP....enough for Abbie Hoffman to have dosed the Cambridge water supply

Fed sentencing guidelines will be a level 40 or something at the top end for this...that means RUD....Removal Upon Death

I’d wager somebody will be doing some serious yapping to the DEA lads and lasses

It seemed like PCP was laced with something else to make it angel dust.

Me, I got a good scrip of legal stuff and I’m stickin’ to it :)
