Editor's note: Ed Rollins, a senior political contributor for CNN, is senior presidential fellow at the Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency at Hofstra University. He is a principal with the Dilenschneider Group, a global public relations firm. He was White House political director for President Ronald Reagan and chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
(CNN) -- The first date is over. Not much happened. President Obama and his new governing partners, the House and Senate Republicans, met at the White House along with the Democratic leaders and discussed the unsolvable issues between them.
Even though they made no decisions and both sides went their separate ways, they agreed to start negotiations on extending the tax cuts. That in itself is the beginning of a positive process. They actually talked to each other and talked of a plan for action.
As with real dating, both sides have to get along or nothing will happen. So maybe this situation has more in common with an arranged marriage.
The American voters are the substitute parents, and they want this marriage to work or at least to be civil. And we, the voters, hold the shotgun.

I find her to be extremely intelligent and far more knowledgeable than she is being given credit for, by her nay-sayers.
As for being “smart enough to not run for president”, that is patently ridiculous statement and obviously something that you wish for and so, are flicking your flies off onto her.
People who run for president, yes all of them, have a “calling”, though the “calling” takes many different forms and paths.
I will be surprised if she decides not to run, from everything she has said and done thus far.
Who are YOU favoring, at this early date, to be the GOP presidential nominee?
Looks like every one took a long break and is back posting again.
And the beat goes on...
I made the ‘running seal’ already so that is an idea. Almost afraid to ever post ‘him’ though.
As always at this time, I'm depressed about all those who have been proposed.
Palin has never said she was Reagan and Rollins is an ass for making it seem as if she did. Why are you all debating over something that Sarah has never called herself?
Why guys? Why? This is a stupid article based on a falsehood created by the author.
That’s your usual position.
But tell me, just WHY my support of Sarah Palin had to be reiterated to you and why such a thing has apparently shocked/surprised you ?
Hey altura,
I had to tend to some other threads and also do some other more important tasks.
I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to this thread and I think we spotted approximately the same number of trolls.
:)
.
Just a thought
Thanks very much for your kind words and for agreeing to read the information at the links. I will readily admit to you, that I read each one over a period of several days and learned new information about her. No candidate or politician is perfect, but I like her best of all, and one reason is that she has no ties to Washington, D.C. and that she’s hostile to the way our business is conducted.
Thanks again, 70times7!! You’re super nice.
Now, Clyde5445. You’re baaaaaaaad....LOL.
Well somebody had to say it. :)
OH OUCH. That's going to leave a huge proverbial mark.
Yes, dear, and I replied.
LOL.
The false and inflammatory subject of the thread was long ago lost in the mix. I don’t think I bothered to address it...lol.
You can’t hot Link Thomas (the congressional record) it has a query function that expires. So I will cut and paste for you.
Here are all the Senates July Amendments (Nothing about adding the F&F bailout):

The Foreclosure Protection Act 0f 2008, better known as the Fannie and Freddie bailout, was originally Senate Bill S.2636, as I told you multiple times before. It was added to the House bill via Senate Amendment in April 2008 by Chris Dodd. Amendment 4387 introduced on 4/3/08 and passed on 4/10/08 after myriad amendments to Dodd’s amendment.
The two best speeches ever given by an American woman, were both by Governor Palin, they are what catapulted her to super stardom of the conservative movement.
Palin is currently the biggest speaker in America, and probably the biggest since Reagan, unless sitting Presidents have out drawn her, she is clearly not a weak or average speaker.
I've been watching several threads for the last couple of hours, what the hell set off the cranks, loose screws, trolls, fraidy cats and Rinos today?
Haven't seen this many clustered in a while....odd.
Palin power, I guess.
She makes grown men cry, whine and wet their panties... they act like little girls. Hilarious.
My comment above was 518 of now 576. Will check tomorrow morning. I think my best fire post of all time was 700-800.
Correction: Make that grown males, not men. Real men adore her! They support her.
Well then you don't understand, because my "main guy" is most certainly NOT Ron Paul. In fact, I disagree with Paul quite a bit. Today my main guy is named Palin.
Regarding Obama, he's been on the national stage since 2004.
