Palin, I knew Reagan. You're no Reagan.
CNN ^ | 12/1/10 | Ed Rollins

Posted on 12/01/2010 12:06:59 PM PST by pissant

Editor's note: Ed Rollins, a senior political contributor for CNN, is senior presidential fellow at the Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency at Hofstra University. He is a principal with the Dilenschneider Group, a global public relations firm. He was White House political director for President Ronald Reagan and chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.

(CNN) -- The first date is over. Not much happened. President Obama and his new governing partners, the House and Senate Republicans, met at the White House along with the Democratic leaders and discussed the unsolvable issues between them.

Even though they made no decisions and both sides went their separate ways, they agreed to start negotiations on extending the tax cuts. That in itself is the beginning of a positive process. They actually talked to each other and talked of a plan for action.

As with real dating, both sides have to get along or nothing will happen. So maybe this situation has more in common with an arranged marriage.

The American voters are the substitute parents, and they want this marriage to work or at least to be civil. And we, the voters, hold the shotgun.

If Sarah announces, get ready for a LOT of conservative leaders to begin making their opinions known about what they think about Sarah Palin as president.

Don't be shy. Name some names. Troll.

Might help if you follow the argument a bit better. This is about Palin, not you.

EVERY SINGLE ONE will be forced to give their opinion on a Sarah Palin candidacy.

You think they will be able to NOT talk about it?

It will be very, very interesting to see how many of these people come out and support her. And which ones don’t.

Right after you explain how McCain’s zero command won, and how the frontrunners were all zero command candidates. This ain’t called the stupid party w/o good reason.

I know certain types love to redefine words in order to get the result they want.

But I don’t accept your attempt to switch the meaning of success with that of non-success.

You are right. I did mean Rollins. Long day at work. thanks for correcting my foot faults.

**********************************************

Notice Rollins gets only one mention in Rendezvous with Destiny on page 368 (but he knew Reagan SOOOOOO well!), when he takes the call from Headquarters at the Detroit Convention in 1980 and is told that GHW Bush has been picked as Vice President (instead of Reagan friend Sen Paul Laxalt) and is instructed to “tell Laxalt.” Not wanting to break the news to an angry Laxalt, Rollins turns to Frank Fahrenkopf and tells him, “It’s Bush and they want YOU to tell Laxalt.”

One brief cameo in the definite book on Reagan’s great Crusade and the only thing it reveals about Rollins’ role in the campaign, as well as his character, is:

a) he does not follow orders from his superiors, presumably Reagan; and

b) he lies.

Sounds like he and Scarborough, Noonan and Parker are birds of a feather. I doubt if Reagan even knew this bozo’s name. Reagan probably thought of him as the gopher who works for Lyn Nofziger.

You said:

Now you're saying it's just gonna be interesting, like I would be surprised at some of them. Trust me, I won't.

Don't be a damn keyboard coward, name the names. Troll.

Gee... let me think.... All of the conservative leaders who talk on TV, all of them who write books, all of them who work in pro-life/pro-family/pro-economic organizations, all of them who hold elected office.

How about YOU name names of people who will not be expected to weigh in on a Palin candidacy?
