Four Texas metropolitan areas Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston - dominate the top 15 U.S. cities in a global study to determine the level of cities' recovery from the recession. The Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program report ranks 150 cities: 50 in the United States, 50 in Europe and 50 in the rest of the world. Austin was the highest-ranked U.S. city and No. 26 in the world. Dallas ranks as the No. 4 U.S. city and No. 39 in the world. San Antonio ranks No. 11 in the U.S. and No. 51 in the world. Houston is

Right to work state with a lot less bureaucratic red tape strangling businesses than CA, NY and others.
I hang my TX flag in my office very proudly. (been doing it for years now)
shhh...don't tell anyone, (I'm really a RED RAIDER). I was a Horn in Austin until I went to GradSchool at TTU. Sorry for not fully explaining. (I was afraid of getting really flamed.)
But hey, can't we all get along? The Cougars always have had the TTU number, well, until last week. hehehe...
I hear ya, “wait until next year”. TTU has been suffering with that thought for forever, and always in the shadows of the Horns, A&M, and Houston....
Just so you know, except for me, my family is a UT Horns family. Makes me sick....damn horns.....(my family really hates Crabtree and the 33-39 win)
Anyhow GrouchoTex, wish you well in your bowl game. Presently I'm in MO and stuck with McCaskill (I am launching a campaign to oust her). She is a really big liar.
However, my roots are in Texas, Rosanky that is. I truly miss a trip to Smithville and the Jewel Cafe for breakfast. Best 3eggs OM with sausage, bacon, short-stack, wheat toast and hash browns....yum.yum.. redshawk
Remember the tent cities?
I moved away years ago, but every once in a while, when I open the dishwasher in the middle of a wash cycle, I am reminded of why I left.
I did underGrad at UT Austin, but Grad work at TTU (Red Raiders). Therefore, my team must be TTU and the Red Raiders; it's a rule or something don't ya know; that one must be faithful to their alma.....
GradSchool Trumps undergrad work. That's how it is. Don't ya know. Sorry, just having fun.
Further, I do wish for a UT win unless UT plays TTU.
Going after Claire, zero’s greaser? Keep us posted.
Ahh well, you still have some of the ‘Tea Sipper’ in you, lol.
I was kidding you too, earlier, as you did state that youall came here in ‘75. Thanks for explaining.
Come for the blistering heat, stay for the fire ants.
No problem, we beat them in 6 games.
“You may all go to Hell, and I will go to Texas.
He probably didn’t mean Houston in the summer.”
Masochist !! I have always wondered how Houston got to be more Liberal and deluded than Austin ??
It’s got to be the weather and the TRAFFIC(if you are not suicidal or murderous before, you will be afterwards).
1966-Summer school at UT-Austin and the shooting was easy, for about an hour or so.
When I grew up in Houston we use to get breezes from the Gulf (50+ miles away)and the 10’ ceilings kept the house wo/AC cool and livable.
Houston from June thru September is worst than Hell !!
95 and 95 - that will test the limits of sanity of any mortal [95%+ humidity and 95+ degrees - all day and night, every day].
Right now I have 2’ of snow outside up here on the mountain at 3500’ elevation and 2500 miles north of Texas.
It appears that most of them are moving to like minded Austin.
Keep ‘em all bunched up together and they won’t be a problem. lol
“I am sure that you are familiar with the Davy Crockett quote”
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Yes I am.
And if Crockett were alive today Nancy Pelosi and her ilk would surely be on the receiving end of it.
It's the College town, 6th Street kinda crowd that is so radical I guess. It was so nice and simple when I went to school there.
I have NO idea why cities in Texas would be prospering.
Believe it, or not...there are conservatives living in Portland.
Their votes don’t mean anything, though.
I know, but at least they cancel out a few of the libs, lol.
Unfortunately, they cancel out very few of the lib votes. lol
I’m going to answer your email tomorrow. ;o)
Presently, I'm collecting TV, printed news articles, internet blogs and the like of what she has said and done.
I'm hopeful that by the end of 2011, I can release my cd’s to all the media, and not just the mainstream.
My gut tells me McCaskill is as crooked as a tree branch; and now, I am on a mission to prove it to the folks of MO.
Thus far, I see my biggest hurdles are STL County/City and the KC area. The libs are heavily entrenched there.
I plan on launching the ‘Fire McCaskill’ campaign next year. Much like the RNC did with Pelosi this year.
I must and will succeed. Also, just so you know, black helicopters are buzzing my office as I type this....
No, no, helicopters just yet, however, I'm planning for them.
Hook’em horns and RedRaiders Rock. It is really tough being torn between two teams don't ya know. Gotta love college ball.
Thanks for the rant and wish me luck in my endeaver. McCaskill goes down for the count in 2012. Sinerely, redshawk.
Family wants me to come back home. I would, except that I'm established here in my profession in MO. (still thinking about it though)
YoungBloods BBQ, just out of Lagrange going to Giddings, best I've ever had. Was nothing more than a shack on the side of the road. I've heard they are closed now. OldMan Youngblood passed in the early ‘90’s.
One of my fondest memories while surveying on Rabbs Prairie, just outside of Winchester, was watching the sunrise over the Colorado river during a late spring morning. Simply spectacular.
Just so you know, MO has know clue as to what good icedTea is. (nor bbq for that matter, well, KC folks say KC bbq is the best. However, I've not been to KC to try it out. My bbq heart is with TX and Mr. Youngbloods.)
Regards, redshawk.
Small world. My daughter and son-in-law, both graduates of Kempner High School in Sugar Land,TX, now live in your state of MO, in Liberty. She got her degree at UMKC last year.
