Voting Twice in NY-1

The closest Congressional race in the nation could be decided by people who don't really live in the district, and a Fox News investigation has uncovered evidence of voter registration illegalities, including one voter who apparently voted twice.

The candidates, Long Island Democratic incumbent Congressman Tim Bishop and Republican challenger Randy Altschuler, have been as close as just 15 votes apart, out of roughly 180,000 cast in New York's 1st Congressional District. The latest count puts Democrat Bishop ahead by about 235 votes. But both sides are now challenging roughly 2,000 absentee ballots that will eventually determine if the seat stays Democratic or falls to the Republicans.

A Fox News Voter Fraud Unit review of approximately 438 of the absentee ballot voters, who also maintain mailing addresses in New York City, reveals that 48 have double registrations. They voted by absentee ballot in Suffolk County, but are also listed as current "active" voters on the New York City rolls. Being registered in two separate jurisdictions is illegal and is a felony in New York State.

We should have punishment for these crimes that make anyone thinking of doing this shudder in fear. This should be punishable by death or life in prison without parole.

They have to examine the snow birds as well. I’ve communicated with Suffolk GOP to add Fla. addresses to their examination and to contact Fla. Sec of State for assistance.Theyshouls also tag voters from SUNY StonyBrook and absentees from other SUNY and private NY colleges. If they can deny a 1000 votes Altschuler can win.

Worth repeating: “This should be punishable by death or life in prison without parole.”

Is this a Casablanca reaction? “Shocked, I tell you. I’m just shocked to learn that gambling is going on...”

This double voting is going on all over the country, but nobody seems to be doing anything about it. People vote from their vacation homes and also from their regular addresses. Students vote (both) from campus and from home.

When it happens within a state, it is easier to catch. But, when it is inter-state, they are not turning up the evidence. I point to Door County in Wisconsin. It leans very left (while surrounded by conservatives) and I suspect that many of its summer population from Illinois are voting both in WI and Illinois.

The HAVA act (Help America Vote Act) was supposed to address this by using Drivers’ License and SS numbers to pick up double registrations all across the country. But, WI is years behind in implementing this legislation which should have been in place in 2008.

I don’t think it bothers vecchio, who as a republican supervisor endorsed bishop. Will suffolk county republican leaders react to this?...no. Checking who voted should have been done by the political hacks in the county, but was not. What a group of morons.

if they just punished the miscreants with the felony it is, I would be happy, but the numbnuts in the justice department probably will slap their wrists let alone do what you suggest.
