Pentagon study: Gays could serve with no harm
Associated Press ^ | Nov 30, 2010 | ANNE FLAHERTY

WASHINGTON – The Pentagon study that argues that gay troops could serve openly without hurting the military's ability to fight is expected to re-ignite debate this month on Capitol Hill over repealing the 17-year-old "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Officials familiar with the 10-month study's results have said a clear majority of respondents don't care if gays serve openly, with 70 percent predicting that lifting the ban would have positive, mixed or no results. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the findings hadn't been released.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen, who have both said they support repealing the law, were scheduled to discuss the findings with Congress Tuesday morning and with reporters Tuesday afternoon.

Republicans, led by Sen. John McCain of Arizona, have mostly opposed repealing the law because they say efforts to do so are politically driven and dangerous at a time of two wars.

Homosexuality is a mental illness and has no place in the military.

Thank you.

I have to ask, though, if the survey was 100% confidential, as promised, why did the leave out the most valuable question?:

Are you a homosexual?

Anyone who claims that including such a question represented personal risk for the respondent has also made the point that military members may also have felt pressured to answer in a PC or dishonest fashion.

Who's to say the military won't come back around and separate all those who claimed homos would affect their ability to complete the mission?

This survey, its premise, and the fact that we even have to talk about it is complete bullsh!t.

I wonder if today’s leftist-run Pentagon mentioned the faggot who leaked countless documents to a fellow faggot for publication on Wikileaks??!!

This has been a con job from the jump. The left wants to please the homo lobby and weaken the hated (by them) military and allowing 'gays' to serve 'openly' with straights in a military setting is the ideal way to accomplish both goals. The military has already been weakened by PC garbage. The Fort Hood murderer, Major Nidal Hasan, jihadist rantings were ignored for years, mostly because he was a Muslim. Now, we'll have 'gays' bunked with heterosexual young men (and women) and that will end badly. Recruitment will plummet and morale will be affected. But hey, the commission says it's O.K. This country is going downhill, fast. Tragic and wholly preventable if people would wake up but they haven't yet. I fear that by the time they do, it'll be too late to turn things around. Prayer is needed.

BS! This policy is designed to destroy the effectiveness or our Armed Forces. For Secretary Gates and Admiral Mullen to support/promote it means they are traitors!

Exactly right on the reasons for this. Expect the senior brass like Adm Mullen to go along with this. Don't forget these senior people have 30 or more years invested in a military career. They don't want to retire with a bad mark on their records or for that matter jeopardize their pension. I feel bad for the career people. They can't really speak out. The system was not designed with a corrupt leftist regime in mind.

So, we are going to gut the Defense Dept by over $100 Billion a year.

We are going to freeze all pay for civilians (even those deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and other combat zones) - and we will even freeze pay for Veterans Administration workers, doctors, and nurses.

We are going to slash talented contractors in the DoD by as much as 20% a year.

We are going to slash acquisition programs, troop levels, weapons, and overseas bases.

We are going to force military retirees and active duty families to pay steep increases in TriCare for their health insurance.

We are going to allow the Bush tax cuts to expire - taking another huge chunk out of workers paychecks.

But, we have millions of Defense dollars to piss away to pay for housing, health care, and associated pay increases meant for dependent married families that will now go to Col Lesbian's lover, or Sgt Homosexual's boy toy.

Bullshyte.

What's unfolding is the same old transhumanist/postgenderist   Über-abomination of nature that's observable in the imploded remains of various cultures throughout human history.

>>And of course his wife and daughter are sending an entirely different message

Nothing to see here....
1. Ideological subversion is the process which is legitimate, old word, and open. You can see it with your own eyes.  All American mass media has to do is to "unplug bananas" from their ears, open up their eyes,  and they can see it.  There is no mystery.

It has nothing to do with espionage. I know that espionage intelligence gathering looks more romantic.  It sells more deodorants through the advertising.  That's probably why your Hollywood producers are so crazy about James Bond types of films. But in reality the main emphasis of the KGB is NOT in the area of intelligence at all.

According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages.

The first stage being "demoralization"...

“One can only imagine how the questions were worded.”

It was poorly worded. As a reservist, I was randomly picked to answer it, as was my wife. It was worded so poorly that one could not clearly articulate their opposition to the proposed policy change.

It wasn’t exactly a “push poll”, but it seemed like one when I took the survey. I was thoroughly disgusted that it was not possible to say what I trully thought because of the wording of questions. About the only way you could show disdain for the proposal was to say you would leave military service or not recommend it to another if homosexuals could serve openly. You could indicate it would hurt unit cohesion, but it was very hard to do so by the wording.

Also, until recently when the army started to downsize again, they had really lowered standards for recruitment. While we still have abd had many fine young American men and women joining and serving, many subpar types were let in...so I wouldn’t be surprised if they said “no problem.”

I’ve read Senator McCain’s latest statement on DADT and his objections to the “survey” mirror what I’m saying and others that have taken the survey say. So, he must be listenting to military folks. So, on this, he seems to have his head on straight. This issue needs to be left alone by the Lame Duck congress. IF, and I don’t think there is, any real merit to repealing DADT, then it should be addressed by the new congress.

Thanks for the background.

I’m with you. The American people spoke on November 2nd. Let their voices be put into action in January.

Until then, the sitting congress has a mandate NOT to act on anything.

Sola Veritas tells it like it is. Those pushing homos in the military want to destroy the military - look what the little pervert did with Wikileaks - for fun and games and he was angry at the military for not letting him "be himself" - of course, what he wanted to be was a transsexual fake female. Sicko perverts do NOT BELONG IN THE MILITARY! They belong in the closet.

I hope they are right and the lame ducks do nothing about this.

Actually it does need to be repealed and the previous standard put back in place.
