(AP) MILWAUKEE (AP) - A 100-year-old greeter at a Milwaukee Walmart was shoved by a customer after the centenarian tried to stop the woman to determine if she'd paid for items that were in the lower part of her shopping cart, police said Monday.

Greeter Lois Speelman fell down and went to a hospital after she was shoved on Sunday.

"I'm bruised a little, but I'm able to go back to work Thursday," Speelman told The Associated Press from her home on Monday.

However, not ALL Walmart shoppers are low-life

I most heartily agree...after all, I AM a FReeper and I DO shop occasionally at Wally World.

I like their "policy" on hiring older folks too...tho I think better use can be made of them other than "greeter"...but that's just me!

The commenter Delafield is a 24/7 troll. Always on, always posting something goofy and riling up the other posters. My suspicion is that it is someone (or several people) with the paper because the comments always follow within minutes of a story being posted, no matter when.

>> No one trashes Walmart around me.

I don’t know how you feel about South Park (the cartoon), but you really ought to watch “Something Wal-Mart This Way Comes”.

Here’s a link so you can watch in on the ol’ computer when you have twenty spare minutes:

http://www.southparkstudios.com/guide/episodes/s08e09-something-wall-mart-this-way-comes

The thirty seconds of commercials at the start of the video are annoying, but stick with it and watch the whole thing and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

It’s not a send-up of Wal-Mart; it’s more a send-up of Wal-Mart CRITICS.

This is NOT one of the most profane of South Park episodes either (in spite of the “you crap your pants when you die” subtheme).

Enjoy!

FRegards

". . . but you would be hard pressed to find a better business model that Sam Walton put together."

Yep....it was he...up until his very advanced age kept him from it...who used to visit each and every store in the whole group at least once a year. And woe betide any manager who's store did not measure up in Sam's eyes! I also am given to understand that the visits were not announced ahead of time.

First the store knew about the visit was when Sam walked through the front door!!!

Kind of like the old ORI inspections in the USAF.

Knowing this store, it looks like the looter was going out through the in aisle. This was a case where the thief chose to exit through the greeter’s area, willing to push through if challenged. Over $4 of bottled water.

No info about the shover. I wonder if it was one of those moody, entitled Amish.

No info is always the biggest clue.

Notice that we didn't even get a name to examine for its "amishness".

“I know that there are plenty of snotty nosed FReepers that detest Walmart, but you would be hard pressed to find a better business model that Sam Walton put together”
____________________________________________________________________________________________

Back in the 70s the things that Walmart sold were made here and helped feed American kids. NOTHING stays the same and
Walmart didn’t either. NOW Walmart feeds Chinese kids and that vast flow of money to China has helped to modernize the
Chinese military. That’s not an opinion. That’s a FACT! As is many on Freerepublic, I’m not a Walmart “Hater”. I just
dont’t shop there. Americans wanted cheap goods and Walmart said, “Ok here they are”. Some of those same American’s didn’t realize that was helping to end their own employment in manufacturing.

Anybody who thinks China won’t use that huge modernized military to try and dominate the Western Pacific Rim, needs to wake up and wipe the poo poo from their eyes.

Here’s another FACT. What goes around COMES around. The healthier members of the Walton family and Walmart execs
might live long enough to receive the body bags of thier grand-children, who will die at the hands of the Chinese
military, that’s been supercharged from Walmart’s China factories.

Go rent the HBO mini-series “THE PACIFIC”. THAT is your future with China.

There are a couple of reasons that the left never wants to use the truth to persuade.

First and foremost, lying is their native language, as it is the native language of their ideological father (John 8:44).

Secondly, the truth about their goals, agendas, and disdain for people would not allow them to attain power in a representative democracy.

Thirdly, their arrogance tells them that the “commoners” can’t understand the superiority of their ideas, and find them abhorrent out of ignorance.

*The little biotch threw the bag back at the lady behind the counter. Needless to say, I became unglued, once I started so did the other women waiting with me.....the girl and her mother left the store.*

Time to bring back the pillory?

Do these people raise their kids by putting them in a pen in the backyard and throwing crackers down to them from the 2nd floor? I wonder kids like this grow up with really thick hair from living outside as feral creatures? How do they work their iPods with cloven hooves?

It is interesting how often comments get turned off on stories, on news sites that allow them, because the commentary gets too politically incorrect too fast for the Libs at the media outlets to deal with.

Correct! 100 is a bit old to be confronting shoplifting silverback nobama supporters. Walmarts should also have a auto-lock for exits when something like this occurs.

I know that there are plenty of snotty nosed FReepers that detest Walmart, but you would be hard pressed to find a better business model that Sam Walton put together.

That's fine if you approve of treating employees and customers alike with contempt, and helping China eat our economy alive! Shopping at Mal*Wart is anti-American.

“I asked her “why” and she told me it was because we had an item on the bottom tray of the cart.”

I know what happened! You, more than likely had something like a 50 pound bag of dog food that can’t be bagged, however if you are like me you said to the lady at the check out “I have a bag of dog food under the cart can you scan that?” and the lady came around with her scanner and got it.

Yes I know that feeling then when you go out you have already put the receipt in your walled and don’t want to dig it out again.

“This is more of a problem with the CHECKOUT people than anything else.

They need to be trained better to LOOK IN THE BOTTOM OF THE CART for more merchandise to run through the checkout.”

This is true, however at some Wal marts they do have “self checkouts” that is why the greeter checks on the way out. Yes the customer could have forgot to pay either by accident or on purpose.

It was a 1 gallon jug of cooking oil that was scanned normally and I didn’t want to put it in the top of the full cart and crush our bread, eggs and such.

At the point of paying for all these items (in cash) they become my property.

We do exactly what you said when we buy dog food.
