An Iranian nuclear scientist has been killed and another injured in separate attacks in Tehran today. The scientists were targeted in two different locations by men riding motorcycles who attached bombs to their car windows as they drove to work.
One device killed Dr Majid Shahriari, a member of the nuclear engineering faculty at the Tehran University, and wounded his wife.
The second blast seriously wounded nuclear physicist Dr Fereidoun Abbasi. His wife was also injured.

Iran's nuclear chief, Ali Akbar Salehi, said Dr Shahriari was involved in a major project at the country's chief nuclear agency, though he did not give specifics.
At least two other Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed in recent years in what Iran has alleged is part of a covert attempt by the West to damage its controversial nuclear program.
One of those two, Massoud Ali Mohammadi, was killed in an attack similar to today's in January.
Mr Mohammadi, a 50-year-old professor from Tehran University, had just left his house on his way to work when a remote-controlled bomb rigged to a motorbike exploded.
'Don't play with fire. The patience of the Iranian nation has limits. If it runs out of patience, bad consequences will await enemies,' the official news agency IRNA quoted Mr Salehi as saying as he met Dr Abbasi at his hospital bedside.
Mr Salehi, one of Iran's vice presidents, was apparently referring to Israel and the U.S., which Iran alleges are trying to damage its nuclear program.

When they take out EVERYONE associated with the Iran Nuke program, then we’ll know they are serious....
It isn’t us, nor the Israeli’s.
It’s the Arabs.
It could very well be. But the action shows the signs of Israeli creativity.
I agree. Israel looks like the prime suspect in this one.
First it was those winshield washer guys at stoplights, now this.
Sheesh. You just can’t catch a break, these days.
Israel would be smart not to inform him so that Imanutjob isn't forewarned.
Yes, but it’s easier for an Arab to get into Iran than it is for an Israeli.
They will Ban motorcycles next.
Arabs would probably go out of their way to make it look the work of Israel. First off they wouldn’t want the world to know Arabs were doing the dirty work, and secondly they would love to pin it on Israel just have another reason to carry on about how beset upon they are by the Jewish state.
The hit was in one of the most secure parts of N Tehran and would have required a lot of intel and pre-planning. Very professional.
ISrael typically has carried out such types of hits on motorcycles.
It would be a really wise Arab country that learned how to mimic Israeli tactics. I am not sure any are wise enough or savvy enough to pull it off.
> Its the Arabs. <
Not so fast. I lean toward suspecting a Mossad operation:
The bombs went off not in an Arab country but in Iran. Iran most certainly isn’t an Arab country. Tell an Iranian to his face that he’s an Arab and you’ll be in mortal danger! Iran is mostly Persian in ethnicity, and the Persians really look down upon the Arabs as an inferior race.
In any case, I imagine it’s quite feasible for the Mossad to find suitable agents for this sort of Teheran bombing job, since there are probably more than a hundred thousand Persian-speaking Jews in the world — mostly in Israel and Los Angeles, along with a few thousand still in Iran.
What a shame.
The world already knows the Arab countries do not like Iran and fear a nuclear Iran. I believe secretly they are more than happy for Israel to take Iran out for them. Arabs do not consider Persians to be Arabs. There is great discord over this and if I know it, it’s pretty common knowledge.
There is a large Iranian Jewish diaspora. They could blend right in.
That must've been a major pucker moment.
