WASHINGTON (AP) - A Metro report says fare increases have been a factor in decreased ridership.
Over the summer Metro increased fares for bus and rail riders in an effort to fill a projected $189 million budget deficit. The hikes were expected to generate more than $100 million, but through October the agency is more than $11 million below where it projected it would be according to a new financial report...

Yes, it appears the closed their budget gap some but not enough and well below projections -- and with a cost to long term ridership and revenues.
I wonder if anyone in the DC area (where this report is going public) will take a hint...

A Metro report says fare increases have been a factor in decreased ridership...
OMG, liberal stupidity on parade!
I wonder how much of the public’s money THAT report cost?
I’ve got a report here that shows that water is wet and they can have the research for a buck.
How many times must revenue fall, before they know it’s the rates???
Metro is a one trick pony. The only thing it knows about managing its budget is raising rates.
What a bunch of meatheads. They stink more than the Redskins!
The answer, my FRiend, will bite us in the end.
Cue Captain Obvious.
Where will fare increases get you, in the end?
Ask Charlie.
Simple solution:
Raise gas taxes to make the Metro seem cheap. Exempt government employees, though. /s
Fight the Fare Increase! Vote for George O'Brien!
Get poor Charlie off the MTA!
The idiotic “green” technology idiots are always stressing how affordable “light rail” will be. Then the fares are increased to cover the union workers ever increasing pay and pension demands. And of course all of those “green” tech advocates never ever consider the rising price of energy (caused by and advocated by the “greens”) that make the system costs even more unaffordable.
Man, they should just double the rates, then they’d get twice the money.
That would make too much sense.
Austrian Economics rides again. Still a perfect record...
And how much of that fare is still subsidized by the American taxpayer?
