Actor Leslie Nielsen dies of complications from pneumonia

Actor Leslie Nielsen, best known for his film roles in "Airplane" and "The Naked Gun" series, died Sunday of complications from pneumonia, his family said.
Nielsen, 84, died in a hospital near his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, surrounded by his wife and friends.

He was a good guy...my sister went to Jamaica a few years back and spotted him at an outdoor restaurant. Being a tourist she began to video tape him...and instead of getting offended he mugged it up and gave her quite the memory of her trip.

ah, I knew him first as Commander J J Adams from Forbiden Planet, then as Francis Marrion, the Swampfox, the disney Revolutionary War mini series.
only later did I learn of his serious take on comedy with the Airplane and Naked Gun franchises...and Shirley he was serious...even in his comedy.
Excellent actor from the great white north.

Prayers for this man and his loved ones. He has given me so much enjoyment over the years, God Bless him, may he rest in peace. I have no idea of his politics, but in my opinion, that speaks volumes.
His campy, corny humor will make me laugh until the end of my days...

Great actor-had an interesting career!... Came from an interesting family too. His dad was a Mountie in the Northwest Territories and his brother, Eric, became a politician and later Canada's Minister of Defence.
