Over millions of years dogs have developed bigger brains than cats because highly social species of mammals need more brain power than solitary animals, according to a study by Oxford University. For the first time researchers have attempted to chart the evolutionary history of the brain across different groups of mammals over 60 million years. They have discovered that there are huge variations in how the brains of different groups of mammals have evolved over that time.

Maybe dogs are more sociable because they have bigger brains.

Lololol...The “Cat Fud” far side is one of my favorite all time farsides. Followed by the one with the guy looking out his kitchen window calling to his dog...”Fifi come faster come faster!” Then you see the little doggy door is bolted shut. Tether Cat, and the deer one “bummer of a birth mark”, are always good for a chuckle....wow there are way too many to mention...I miss Gary Larson.

The only problem with dogs is that they dont live 80 years or so. Get a bird! I hear some of them have to be put into wills to ensure they are cared for after the owner dies. I still prefer my furry friends over the feathery kind though.

canines have to work as a team. There fore to eat they have to be more intelligent and know where each member of the pack is at any given time.....cats just have tofollow the prey, no teamwork involved. But I still love cats and dogs each for their own ability..

I couldn’t agree more. Doorknobs get fondled all the time like a TSA victim. Tables just stand there, hold things effortlessly, and get dusted once a week. No brainer!

Aw, don’t let it bother you. There are rats (cute little things, huh), and there are the metaphorical rats, who are running our country into the ground, and they’re the ones with the reputation of the plague carriers.

I don’t see how this points to evolution at all.
It points to ADAPTATION, where the dog is created with all the necessary information required to develop the bigger brain, and where humans artificially selected those that were more social.
No new information was added to the dogs’ DNA.
That’s KEY.
