“why did Siemens in Germany or the Finns help Iran?”

oil - or other payment. Iran does not need credit cards to pay for military assistance. The hypocritical europeans love to keep their businessmen happy with those big contracts and their diploomats feeling self-righteous (over cowboys like George Bush) for continuing “talks”

Thank You to Israel for their efforts to contain a monster. I am sure good brave men and women died and will die in this effort.

It probably reported progress back using the phone.

Seriously. These SCADA setups have every kind of physical link to hardlines.

It is definitely an interesting read.

There are times though when things go wrong, that too much credit is given to the entities that cause them to.

I wonder what percent of this is factual and what percent is pure conjecture.

I’ve known Steve for many years - since the earliest days of home PC’s. He has always been on the cutting edge of security, but his first big contribution to home PC users was his hard drive utility Spin Rite - which I have used for years.

"This was so well executed that I believe it most likely did not include the US government in any way."

Large chunks of the CIA are vastly more competent that the media, left and right, would lead you to believe. We can execute. However, Congress, and this executive branch, leaks like a sieve - so perhaps you are correct. The article surmises the Russians were involved. That one I highly doubt. Israel - extremely likely. These delaying tactics will not solve the real problem however. We need to bomb Iran day and night for 30-60 days until all infrastructure is destroyed: bridges, manufacturing, oil production and refining, communications, airports, all military capability, schools, mosques, all government buildings, their nuke facilities. Everything. And then walk away and not make any more idiotic attempts at culture change in the ME. It would stop their nuclear program and be the most effective (within the realms of political realism) blow we could strike against islamic agitation.

“wipe out our entire electrical grid”

Not only electric, water supply also. High service pumps are controlled with the same type of equipment.

The worm had to have entered the complex with some critical software component provided with Siemens’ hardware, or with a common Windows application that would have been on numerous computers.

Yes, very interesting, it is fortunate that there was a common interest among four nations for long enough to accomplish this.

The lesson is that an air gap must be absolute for our infrastructure control to be secure.
