SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A federal grand jury has indicted a Eureka man who allegedly sent a letter threatening to kill President Barack Obama.
According to court documents, 54-year-old Roger Hudnall wrote, "I will kill the president," in a letter mailed on Jan. 7, 2009.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Hudnall was charged Wednesday with making threats against the president.
Hudnall previously served federal prison time for mailing a letter containing white powder to the FBI's San Francisco office in 2002. The letter, which threatened to kill two people, had the return address of his former landlord who had evicted him.
The white substance turned out to be baby powder.
Hudnall later admitted sending the letter to scare the landlord and get her in trouble with the FBI......frpa

In his letter he said “ I will kill the President” In doing so he acknowledged that Obama is the President and that being so can’t argue that he’s not.
Had he said he would kill Barack Obama, it would e different. That would be threatened ordinary murder, not Presidential assassination.
That guy’s only 54 years old???
FReepers caught this fact better than most papers. A lot are saying it was a threat against Obama.

Unless there was a more specific statement in the letter, the date seems to imply the threat was actually against President Bush.
To the medioso types, facts are pesky things.

Thanks, it seems like there is an interesting age group that is being arrested for “bothering” Obama. Sounds like profiling here, maybe I should look like Bruce Willis in Surrogates, all plastic like and 30 years more youthful.

You have a very good legal point. If he was tried for threating obama and he was not the President at that time( and never can be ) he should be released as not guilty.
