Please forgive what apparently is a false accusation.

There have been entirely too many threads such as this one in recent months, and the fact that after posting there was no response from its author made me quite suspicious. Of course family comes first, and apparently your agenda was not to bash Palin; this was my principal concern.

I said it in a different posting on this thread, and I'll say it again in a slightly different way, because it bears repeating: What the Left and its fellow travelers have done to Governor Plain is an outrage. It's fine for FReepers to have prospective candidates they prefer to her (I personally do), it's fine for them to outright oppose her. But what is not fine is for FReepers to support the kind of crap that's dumped on her constantly in an effort to discredit her, justified by the lame excuse that "she's got to be more careful of what she says." That idiocy just will not wash: Palin is a salt-of-the-earth American with real accomplishments -- something our boy President does not have. Many of the "missteps" attributed to her are statements taken out of context, spin, exaggerations, and many are malicious lies. "Conservatives" who enable the campaign against her in furtherance of their own candidates are accomplices in the attempted destruction of a fine and decent person, and they ought to be ashamed. More practically, they should at least understand that if the Left succeeds in discrediting Palin they'll simply turn their long knives on the next victim.

So, again, I'm sorry to have misunderstood your purpose and impugned your motives. To me, this most recent "controversy" is both a non-story and an indicator of how desperate Palin's enemies are. I'm glad to be told you're not one of them.

Happy Thanksgiving.

From a dedicated conservative: please do not vote for Palin in the 2012 Republican primary. This is no slam on her, but she is not intellectually capable to handle the responsibilities of the presidency. In fact, she wasn't up to the job in Alaska. We're talking about the most difficult position on the planet. We'd be talking a huge leap of faith - similar to what the country did when Obama was voted in.

I can see why Palin is popular - primarily because she stands by here beliefs. However, she would be a lousy president. She is perfect where she is - on television.

I agree! Very well said, and it bears repeating.
