Vet, 77, Busted For Obama Death Threat ("shoot Zero for “what he has done to this country”)
TNG ^

NOVEMBER 24--A 77-year-old South Carolina man whose home was stocked with an arsenal of guns told Secret Service agents that he wanted to shoot Barack Obama “for what he has done to this country,” according to a criminal complaint charging him with threatening the president’s life.

Michael Bowden allegedly first spoke of killing Obama last week during a “routine check-up” at a Veterans Administration clinic in Spartanburg. Bowden, pictured in the mug shot at right, told a nurse that he “was thinking of traveling to Washington, DC, to shoot the President (Obama) because he is not doing enough to help African Americans,” according to an affidavit sworn by Agent Mark Booth.

In an interview last Wednesday with three federal investigators, Bowden acknowledged threatening Obama’s life at the VA facility.

In a sworn, written statement he noted that, “if I had the opportunity to put Obama against the wall and shoot him, I would.” Bowden added that if he could kill anyone, “I would kill, if possible, the President (Obama), for what he has done to this country.”

During a search of Bowden’s home, agents located three semi-automatic handguns and a semi-automatic rifle--all of which were “fully loaded, with rounds in the firing chamber--near his bed. In Bowden’s son’s bedroom, agents found 12 other guns, while a “loaded, short-barrel shotgun” was found near the home’s front door.

The jailed Bowden, who turns 78 on Friday, may soon be freed pending the completion of a psychiatric evaluation. One condition of his release will require Bowden to refrain from possessing a firearm.

>Should threats against the leader of the greatest country on earth be taken seriously? Should it be against the law to threaten to kill him?
>
>Yes, regardless of which POS currently holds the title.

Didn’t you and I have a little talk about the possibility of a “no-gun zone” around the President and the legitimacy & feasibility thereof?

There’s a difference between a credible threat and an infirm old man expressing a wish that we might not agree with. IMO, the fact that he SAID such a thing proves he’s probably not competent.

I sat next to seniors from 2003 - 2008 and listened them them telling me angrily how “Bush should be SHOT”. Nobody came and arrested them. They weren’t threats, they were opinions and wishful thinking.

He should of wrote a book, or made a movie about the assassination of Obama.

Well...It worked for leftists making threats against Bush.

There is a big difference between saying "Bush/Obama should be shot" and "I'm going to go kill Bush/Obama"

Take the poll at my blog:

The majority think Obama should be tried for treason BEFORE impeachment.

With President Bush we had books, movies, off-Broadway plays, all the way down to DIY postage stamps, with not a peep from the Secret Service. Now, when an old vet mentions something to his doctor, it is a full blown investigation

“was thinking of traveling to Washington, DC, to shoot the President (Obama) because he is not doing enough to help African Americans,”

the teleprompter in chief does what all dhimmicrats do...puts the brother man on the plantation system....

though I tend to think the alleged zer0 threatener has a good sense of sarcasm and did not mean any of it....as in he could car less about the brothers and was trying to get a rise out of the bureaurocrats at the VA about shooting Bambam.

“Threatening POTUS is a crime. Partially correct. “ partially? What part is incorrect? Making a threat against the POTUS is and should be a crime. ******************** I think what we are beating around is the difference between a statement of vague fantasy satisfaction and a statement of specific intent. "I would like to " is a more nebulous thing than "I intend to ". The first can usually be defended, the second often cannot. Skimming the article headline as I initially did, it looked like a defensible statement. The full comment is nearly a signed confession perpetrate a crime, however unlikely the success might be.

I can’t fault the SS here.

I read the report and based on what I read, their actions were appropriate, especially since he made no attempt to explain that he was just mouthing off.. If they asked if he had any more weapons in the house, he probably named them all.

They were just doing their jobs.

Four reasons even a threat is a crime:

Lincoln

Garfield

McKinley

Kennedy
