I know the on-again off-again nature of SteynOnline in recent months has sorely tried readers patience. Rather boringly, I have some health issues that demand somewhat more attention than Ive been able to give them. So rather than keep driving you nuts by showing signs of life on the home page for a day or two and then lapsing back into sleep mode for a week, were going to close up shop for a while.

Same here - he is my favorite guest host - almost as good as the original.

I’m with you - when Rush is gone and Mark is not guest hosting I’m disappointed.
I hope he will be okay and that whatever he has is treatable. Prayers for Mark and his family.

Gee, I hope he makes a full recovery.
If you missed his opening monologues on last week’s Thursday and Friday shows guest-hosting for Rush, you should try to hear them. It left me in stitches.
I particularly loved the aside “the emirs of Incumbistan” to describe entrenched congressional Democrats, it was classic Steyn.
Hurry back, Mark. You will be missed.

I am so sad. He is the funniest/wittiest guest host ever. He was recently on FoxNews and he looked great. Prayers that this turns out to be nothing serious. Take care of yourself, Mark. We need you in the trenches for the resurrection of America!

We will return before the end of the year. You can take that to the bank (and stick it in the vault next to your credit default swap). Good!
Hoping that the "Chaucer of our time" is soon on the mend.

Amazon delayed his much anticipated new book, “After America” some time ago. I had hoped that he was simply working hard on revisions, but have also worried about a health issue. He is incredibly gallant and kind in person, and I know for a fact that he reads every letter sent to him.
To: OrangeHoof
the emirs of IncumbistanLOL. You're right. Classic Steyn.
I think he's the greatest writer of his kind in the English language alive today. WifeofZeugma says I have a 'man-crush' on him.

Does this mean Mark Davis on Rush for the Holidays?Maybe not:

I hope Mark is eating and drinking from only trusted supplies. He is among our most effective warriors and is therefore dangerous to those in power.

Steyn is Rush’s only fill-in host that I make it a point to hear. I pray that all will be well with him.

Mark, you’re a gem and your perspective is always refreshing, humorous and thought-provoking.
May you have a complete recovery from whatever it is that’s giving you trouble.
