Bruce Springsteen: 'The boss' rails against 'very ugly' political climate surrounding Barack Obama

The American political climate for achieving change is “very, very ugly,” according to Bruce Springsteen, as he launched a staunch defence of Barack Obama.

"There's a widespread political consciousness that's perhaps deeper in Europe than it is in the States,” he told the Sunday Times magazine.

“The climate [in America] is very, very ugly for getting things done. The moderate reforms President Obama fought to make are called Marxist, socialist.

“I mean, the most extreme language is put into play to describe the most modest reforms that would move the economy back towards serving a majority of its citizens.”

The musician, often referred to as "The Boss", added: “You have a guy [Mr Obama] who comes in, he gets to be president for four years. Maybe eight.

“But you have the financial institutions, you have the military, the corporations. They're in play constantly and, in truth, they're shaping the economy and shaping the direction the US is moving in.

“Those forces are huge. The money and lobbyists are pouring in to do everything they can [to preserve the status quo]. It's a very tough time, a very hard time here in the States."

In his interview, Springsteen admitted that his decision to support Mr Obama had alienated some of his fans.

He once criticised Ronald Reagan, the late American President, for using his name to rally Republican voters in the 1980s.

"A moment comes when you cash in whatever credibility a guy can have who plays and sings rock songs for a living and you put your chips where you think they might do some good,” he said.

Any person who would (write and) sing, and profit from the lyric:

'Got a wife and kid in Baltimore, Jack.'
'I went out for a drive and never came back.'

...is an indescribable scumbag, worthy of only a hard kick in the balls.

“Shut up and sing.”

I’d be content if he’d just shut up...

I hope it grosses Springsteen out so much by 2012 that he permanently leaves America. Ta-ta.

RE: “Get out of our country Bruce. I think you are more attuned to the Europeans, you should go live with them. We don’t want you here, we’re sick of your posturing.”

*************

Yeah, Bruce, get the h*ll out. I thought for certain I was going to see in that article that he is threatening to move to another country. Please do it Bruce — we’ll help you pack!

PS - BS never COULD ‘sing.’

The "Boss" of what?
He's just another in a long line of America hating commie sycophants who think that a benevolent government - led by the enlightened few - can usher in peace and happiness....

There's only one Prince of Peace - and those clowns in Washington DC are on the other side of the spectrum. They are more akin to the 'god of this world', and not the True God of Heaven and Earth. The best we can hope for is to reduce and reign in the politicians' power - not expand it. I.e., govern according to the concepts of a Constitutional Republic with limited government powers. Not this bloated monstrosity we have, which continues to erode the citizens' rights and to intrude upon our privacy.

Mr. "Boss" can go join the Dixie Chicks and go on tour in Antarctica - and leave us alone.

Never liked the pseudo-working class crap that he and others in that genre put out. The ‘modest reforms’ he is talking about have only hurt those who actually work for a living and live responsibly. He's pathetic.

Yes Bruce S. - another aloof, totally disconnected entertainer... detached from the people they think they are a part of ... another rich elitist who amazingly believes that obama is a ‘moderate’ - good grief... moderate as compared to whom - Chairman Mao?

Credo for the ‘has been’ entertainers - when you are not topping the charts with new releases - say something outrageously stupid... to get publicity.

Mr. Springsteen has been able to market a very modest amount of talent into a pretty big bankroll, so I guess he knows what political positions are acceptable to the fans of his brand of pop music.

Definitely not as much of a moron as the “Dixie Chick” group who totally misread their audience.

More insight from the guy the left tries to portray as the "genius everyman."

As a genius, he's a high school dropout.

As an everyman, he's lived the pampered life of a rich rock star since Richard Nixon was president.

He wouldn't know socialism if he cheated on his wife with it.

"The Boss" apparently wants to fool people into thinking that Obama is something more than just a rank hireling of the big money lobbyists.
