New Breed of Anchor Babies From China
Judicial Watch ^ | November 23, 2010

Mexican illegal immigrants who give birth to anchor babies in the U.S. are being joined by upper-class Chinese women who have the resources to enter the country legally to deliver their offspring and essentially purchase American citizenship. A story on this new breed of anchor babies was published this week by the leftwing National Public Radio, which makes it a point to intimate the differences between the poverty-stricken illegal border crossers and the affluent Asians.

A loophole in American law allows the rich to travel to the United States—often in first-class airline seats—to give birth, the report says, alluding to the plight of the poor chastised Mexicans who desperately cross the treacherous desert to give their unborn children a better life.

http://www.npr.org/2010/11/22/131513165/born-in-the-u-s-a-some-chinese-plan-it-that-way

Because the Chinese women have money, the U.S. practically welcomes them to give birth here. In fact, it has become a booming trade in China where a host of businesses have profited from the deals. For about $15,000, a company arranges a California hospital, physician, house and car rental for wealthy Chinese parents-to-be. The operations are referred to as “an affordable American dream.”

One Chinese woman who is about to deliver a boy in Los Angeles says she’s giving birth in the U.S. to give her child a better future, education and work possibilities. The woman will enter the country with a foreign visitor’s visa arranged by a broker, who says he’s trying to help Chinese mothers realize their American dream comes at a “fair and reasonable price.”... access to a free public school education and the reduced college costs that come with being an American citizen are worth the investment for Chinese parents.

... the number of children born to illegal immigrants in the U.S. jumped to 4 million from 2.7 million in a six-year period and will likely keep growing.

I don’t think so, but they come to this country while pregnant to escape the chance of being found out and dragged in for abortions.

Non-citizens who enter the USA without playing mother-may-I with the nanny state do have a status - the status of being violators of a misdemeanor equivalent to parking illegally in a handicapped space. It is a paperwork violation.

Tancredo’s HR4437 would have made it a felony and failed in the Senate ... and both presidents would have vetoed it anyway.

Of course, prior to the 1920s there was no such thing as an illegal immigrant. Anyone who entered the USA was presumed innocent of immigration laws that prohibited undesireables but did not require the game of mother-may-I with the nanny state.

Dual citizenship is a totally different topic as by definition, it requires legality. Dual citizenship comes in two forms:
- A person born in X has 1 or both parents who are citizens of Y. That person has until the age of 21 (it varies by country) to choose in which country to claim citizenship. After making that claim, he no longer had dual citizenship.

- A person qualifies for citizenship in two or more countries, even after being an adult. American-Israelis are often alleged to have this dual citizenship. But it happens with many nationalities. Countries have laws that only a citizen can own real estate, or news media outlets, or some other type of property. And low and behold a citizen of the USA is also a citizen of Austalia or some other country.

- Sloppy/ambiguous situations allow for dual citizenship. My mom’s side of the family crossed back and forth accross the border. They aren’t even sure in which country some were born. It’s confusing. They’ve never had a problem using privileges such as voting that were reserved for citizens. Eventually one country or the other was accepted as their country in a defacto manner.

Sorry, it's my fault, I shouldn't make so many sex tourism trips to China. Mea culpa.

“AMERICA AND AMERICANS FIRST”

How about that for a campaign slogan? Too extreme?

If our own government doesn’t put our interests first, who is going to?

I really don’t mind most East Asian immigration at all. Net plus for the country. At the risk of sounding stereotypical, East Asians aren’t looking for a handout when they come to the US and generally start contributing the economy and tax base immediately.

In the opinion of many, including you, illegal entry to the USA is more serious than a misdemeanor.

But in the law it is not very serious.

This disparate importance placed by the law compared to the importance placed by ordinary people is common.

I think vote fraud is very important and should be a major felony. But the law treats it like a misdemeanor of less importance than a parking ticket.
