You mentioned Gen. MacArthur. My recollection is that he would have taken care of the job except for being overruled by his Democratic CIC...is this not right?

Don’t forget that McArthur managed to be completely surprised by the Chinese intervention, despite numerous warnings, thus getting thousands of Americans killed.

Of course following the pattern set in World War II, when his Air Force in the Phillipines was destroyed on the ground hours AFTER Pearl Harbor.

Most overrrated General in U.S. history.

yeah, he wanted to nuke the area around the Yalu, to stop the Chinese.

Truman ordered him not to. He also ordered him to shut his mouth

Mac, in effect, flipped him off.

Think Patreaous (sp?) telling off the President, in public.

Mac got fired. I had several relatives in the Pacific during WWII and Korea. None of them like Mac. The ones in Europe thought their commanders could walk on water.
