Don’t forget that McArthur managed to be completely surprised by the Chinese intervention, despite numerous warnings, thus getting thousands of Americans killed.

Of course following the pattern set in World War II, when his Air Force in the Phillipines was destroyed on the ground hours AFTER Pearl Harbor.

Which may be why Eisenhower kept him entirely in the dark about the Manhattan project until just 72-hrs before they dropped the first bomb on Hiroshima.

Some say USMC Major or was it Captain Ken “Killer” McCoy provided the intelligence of a Chinese buildup but it was ignored by McArthur’s staff and he didn’t learn of it until way after the fact.
