Payback to America for shutting him down.
I predict that in the next 6 months or so that Obama is quoted as saying something like: “The American people deserve what they get for not appreciating me or my agenda”.
Kind of the same attitude Hitler had at the end of the war when he ordered everything the Germans needed for post War survival be destroyed. If the Germans couldn’t bring him victory, they didn’t deserve to go on living [in his warped mind].

* Hoping for violence so he can initiate martial law.
* Conditioning people to be treated like cattle -- breaking their spirit, if you will.
* Distraction for something much more important.
* Payback to America for shutting him down.Simply "Abu Ghraib-ing" us to make Americans pay for "what we've done" and to look ridiculous in the eyes of muslims worldwide.
The Won is not on our side.

Verbal ‘abuse’? I think the travelers should confine child molestors until we have a truly just legal system. Anyone ordered to molest a kid should QUIT. How many perverts are there in this country willing to do that kind of work? And what kind of union would not lead a strike to stop it?

NO one is THIS tone deaf. They are doing this for some reason. Obama is aware of the backlash, that's why he and Napolitano have given press comments about it. Only reasons I can think of him doing this on purpose are: * Hoping for violence so he can initiate martial law.
* Conditioning people to be treated like cattle -- breaking their spirit, if you will.
* Distraction for something much more important.
* Payback to America for shutting him down.
Since you are not one for wild conspiracy theory speculations, I consider your observations more credible.
And I agree completely.
I'll add this. I think they unintentionally blew it. They pushed too hard, too fast, too soon, and at the wrong time.

We spend a hell of a lot of time focusing on air planes but there is no way we can ever be fully secure. There isnt a thing to stop them from attacking something like the DC metro or a crowded city bus. Suppose a terrorist wanted to set off a bomb in the crowded line before security.
Now he/she/it doesn't need to pack a small enough bomb to get through the scanners and grope.
He/she/it can pack a carry on max sized suitcase solid with semtex and ball bearings.
TSA has thoughtfully assembled a target rich environment in a close confined space for them...

Your third bullet worries me most of all.

Interesting thought.
If such an event happened, they’d move the security to the doors, before anyone could get in the terminal.
But then the terrorists would just stay outside that boundary.
So they’d have to expand it to include the parking lot.
But then the terrorists would just stay outside that boundary as well.
Theoretically, this could keep going until finally it reached the borders, where it should be in the first place.
A girl can dream.....
