Sliding silently under the mud, muck and fog of national politics, is a current event that makes Bill Clinton’s excursion into the world of elderly sex look tame in comparison. This time the nation’s national security is truly threatened in my opinion, and it involves not only a weak president with limited problem-solving ability, but leadership at the highest levels in the Pentagon as well. The American people would do well to demand a full investigation by an unbiased group, and let the chips fall where they may.
I am referring to the “missile shot” taken off the California coast recently, and the lame response by NORAD, the Pentagon and the White House itself.

In my opinion, there is absolutely no doubt that what was captured on video off the coast of California was a missile launch, was clearly observed by NORAD, assessed by a four-star general within minutes, and passed to the president immediately. That is the way the system works, and heads fall if there is a failure. This is one of the most important tenets of national defense and its sole purpose of protecting the American people. Even the smallest failure in this system gets intense scrutiny at the highest level.
Now, the question that still must be answered is why NORAD’s muted response was simply that North America was not threatened, and later our government approved the lame excuse that the picture recorded was simply an aircraft leaving a contrail. This decision was made far above the four-star level, and because the system in place demands it, was made by the president himself.

I never said it couldn't be a helicopter. I never even said it couldn't be a Chinook. Even when I said others called it a Huey, that wasn't to say it was definitely a Huey or definitely not a Chinnok, it was to point out that others disagreed. I instead mocked your theory, made up out of whole cloth with no supporting data of any kind, that this is an ASW Chinook headed out to engage a sub that has just launched an SLBM. You seem to be having an issue with the lighting on the contrail..saying for some reason that it is impossible to be a contrail because of the lighting.

The sun is below and to the right of the contrail.
You can see the progression of the sunset by observing the successive contrail photos and their change in color...yellow to orange to red, while being lit from below and to the right by the setting sun.
The aircraft itself is connected to the large contrail in the far right photo but as it moves eastward and the Sun ‘apparently’ moves westward it goes into the earth’s shadow
It is seen following the flightpath of UPS902 while the contrail in the background drifts in a southerly direction driven by high altitude winds

Keep in mind that the large apparent displacement of the contrail and the aircraft in the successive photos stitched together and linked above is due to it being highly zoomed

Obviously, you are correct re those who are pushing an agenda. My posts are simply laying the facts out there for folks who are honestly trying to understand what really happened. (The dynamics of the situation are, indeed, complex -- and clouded by dishonesty on the part of CBS.)
The record is being built as material becomes available and is published. One of these days we will be able to say to folks, "Read the rants, then look at all the data (here it is -- with sourcing) -- and make up your own mind."
I was struck from the start by the degree of trust some gave to the C BS camerman and the corresponding distrust accorded to the military.
The motivation of the C BS cameraman to 'sex' up his report should have been at least considered.
Well the nice thing is this will happen again eventually when conditions are right and someone will hopefully get vid to prove the point. Though even then I doubt some will give up on it.
I;m not sure I follow that. They were shooting out across open ocean. Unless they landed right behind a tall landmass, the contrail should have remained visible.
I've never known even the setting sun (already below the horizon) to "switch on and off" -- especially on an object at 30k - 40k feet...
No, CBS remains unexcused. CBS will be responsible for explaining why they so drastically cut and time-scrambled the video -- and then pushed it as "raw"...

Also, use your (appropriate adjective) powers of observation and notice that the two photos you posted were at two different zoom magnifications. Think that might affect your conclusions? The creator of the composite noticed the difference and compensated for it. ("Silly" folks do things like that instead of making dumb@SS statements like yours above.)

So in post 295 I posted two pictures of contrails with a shaded side that isn't "UP". They're on the "side". I asked you if you believe those contrails are vertical columns. Shouldn't be confusing.
And what about the last picture do you believe is "poor". It is an actual picture of an actual Minotaur missile launch. Actual missile launches look nothing like the recent picture taken off the coast of California, because missile exhaust is far more dense then water vapor (doesn't "smear" due to winds) and remains well defined while the missile accelerates as it climbs. There have been countless missiles fired and photographed in the last several decades. Please find an actual photograph of an actual missile that resembles what is depicted in the CBS video.
I fail to see the connection between the two.
