Laura Bush on the other hand, married to a President mauled by the MSM at every turn, was a far more popular 1st Lady. America saw a truly caring women, a genuine person.
Michelle Obama would still have to go a long way to approach the level of ugliness inherent in Hillary Clinton, but she's not far behind. They are both very similar in that they have been riding the coattails of their husbands for years and using that public profile to draw as much attention to themselves as possible. Oddly enough, they did very little with the opportunity (unlike Elizabeth Dole in her private career) and spent most of the time simply enjoying the power and not doing very much with it.
I would still give Michelle Obama more points for being genuine and having some honest emotions on display, as a mother and a women. Clinton is an soulless, calculating ogre. Interesting that the last two democrap Presidents have such similar wifes and both of them unlikeable.
