For those not familiar with the place, Gary is a rust-belt city that’s long since sunk into perpetually high crime, poverty, and unemployment. It’s like East St. Louis or a smaller, but just as dangerous, Detroit.
Gary also happens to be the 2nd most liberal city in America (after Detroit, but before even Berkley) in terms of its municipal policies (Bay Area Center Research). The powers that be up there come up with one desperate scheme after another to try to turn things around. None of them ever work. This summit sounds like just the latest incarnation of fail.
All that I can say is that ANYONE hiring a black, under policies like this, should have their head examined. The economic damage of policies like this cannot be underestimated.
After all, why not expunge sex offenders, so that they can get jobs back in where they like to work with their prey (i.e., schools, day care, etc.).
They can’t be serious.
We could lower taxes by expunging public workers. Why have government this nutty?

This is ALL about voting rights.
In an egregiously stupid and moronic period in the nation’s history, during which the leaders of America have proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that they are mentally defective relative to those who have gone before, this is without a doubt the most pathetically weak-minded and idiotic notion I, personally, have ever heard.
And that is, indeed, saying something.
At least in Indiana this would require a change in state law to accomplish. Since the Republicans took over the State house earlier this month there is absolutely no chance this is going to happen. It’s a non-starter.
Notice that the article makes no mention of the primary losers under this proposal: young black men with clean records. By significantly reducing the utility of a criminal records check as a screening device, the kid from the ‘hood who has kept his nose clean would be treated as a member of a presumptively criminal class.
Of course all races should be allowed to participate in such a program and not just blacks
Our prisons are filled with people doing time for very minor offenses or in prison for breaking parole for very minor offenses.
Minor drug offenses should be fined heavily instead of spending a weekend in prison for getting busted smoking a joint.
What most people fail to understand is petty crime is a revenue generator for the county or state. Get busted for throwing a beer bottle at a vehicle parked in the street. Third degree felony! Weekend in jail. anger management class, parole for six months, court costs. Felony on your permanent record
How about a nice $500 fine and an admonition to stop being so stupid instead of funding the bureaucracy of the court system for six months
I wouldn’t put it past Obama to give a blanket pardon, on his last day in office, to all blacks/african americans, absolving them of ALL crimes as a final “F**K YOU” to white America. He would empty the prisons and begin flooding our land with life-long thugs and criminals.
