Buerkle lead appears insurmountable (NY House race about to tip)
The Auburn Citizen ^ | November 20, 2010 | Robert Harding

With only Wayne County left to count absentees in the 25th Congressional District, it’s Ann Marie Buerkle’s race to lose.

The final count of absentee ballots in Onondaga County gave incumbent Democrat Dan Maffei 3,571 votes and Buerkle 3,014.

Buerkle campaign spokeswoman Liza Lowery said Buerkle also picked up 144 votes after recanvassing in Wayne County.

With the additional votes from Onondaga and Wayne counties, Buerkle leads Maffei by 411 votes.

In a statement, Lowery argued that there is no way Maffei can win.

It’s only a matter of time. A Buerkle victory would give Republicans a pickup of 62 House seats.

Won’t they just keep counting til they find 400 more votes? Those pesky things are always hiding in ballot boxes that someone overlooked.

A lost machine will be found with perfect Democrat Election Official Provenance. Purely coincidental and with just enough votes to win. When do we get to start shooting back instead of constantly yelling fraud?

I’ve been watching this count and recount for weeks. The Syracuse Post-Standard has been running articles about it but apparently they’ve been bought out and there’s some sort of copyright deal now.

Anyway, I was waiting to see if something for sure had been decided before posting it and risking getting the thread pulled. I’ve emailed the mods about whether we can post from there but got no response.

Anyway, here’s a link to the article that was updated yesterday.

Maffei wins Onondaga County absentee ballots, still trails overall

Man, they just can’t bring themselves to admit that Buerkle won without making Maffei look like the winner somehow.

Nothing would give me more satisfaction than to see him outed.

I don't care about his sexual preference or whether or not he wants to make it public. I just want to see him ousted.

Same here. Learn to spell if you don’t want to be a moron like the Palinbot followers on here.

The correct word is indeed ousted. And we repudiated the Left, not the nonsensical refudiate from a woman who can’t crack open an English dictionary!

Ann Marie Buerkle

A native of Auburn, New York, Ann Marie is a nurse and accomplished attorney working in healthcare, mother of six and grandmother of eleven.

After graduating as an R.N. from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, Ann Marie worked at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.  While juggling a growing family, Ann Marie was a substitute school nurse for many years before obtaining her law degree from Syracuse University School of Law.

An Assistant New York State Attorney General since 1997
, Ann Marie represents New York State with Upstate Medical University as her client, capping a professional life dedicated to improving the quality and affordability of our local health care system while expanding its patient-centered focus.

Committed to public service and community involvement, Ann Marie's parents - both first generation Americans - instilled the value of hard work, individual responsibility, and personal integrity in her and her three brothers and sister. Her father worked for Met Life for over 63 years while simultaneously owning and operating Auburn's Mohican Market.  Ann Marie and her siblings spent their teenage years working at the store as well as at the popular roller skating rinks her parents owned and managed.

Ann Marie has a record of standing up for those in need. A former member of the Syracuse Common Council, she counsels abused women in crisis at Vera House shelter, provides volunteer legal services for needy Syracuse families through the Onondaga County Bar Association's Pro Bono program, and is a lifelong advocate for those with special needs. Today she serves as a member of the Surrogate Decision-Making Committee for the New York State Commission on Quality of Care and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities.

Of Ann Marie's six grown children, only one remains in New York State due to better job opportunities elsewhere.  As an owner of a small business for over twenty years, Ann Marie knows that high taxes, ever expanding government giveaways, and exorbitant energy costs are driving businesses and jobs from Upstate New York. As our congressman, Ann Marie will fight to change that.

I’ve been praying hard that she’d win.

You misunderestimate Palin

She coins a new word, and they put it in the dictionary.

Some people can see intent from mispillings or thypos and just move on.

Those that can only understand words with conventional spelling will miss out on a lot of important information.

I notice how fun it is for the spilling/police thread nannies to feel superior.

I think this with Renee Elmers and Joe Walsh make 64. That leaves NY District 1 left with Bishop/Altschuler race less than 100 votes difference.

If I heard correctly, according to Congressman Peter King (R-NY), who will chair the National Security Committee in the new Congress, the GOP picked up seven House seats in New York. Of course, they had been down to only two.

Strange that Republicans made such significant gains in House seats in NY when the three statewide races - governor and two US Senators - were blowouts for the 'Rats. There had to have been a lot of ticket splitters out there.
