Former Gov. Mitt Romney, a likely GOP presidential candidate for 2012, told supporters he won’t announce his candidacy before the end of the year — but political analysts said yesterday the discussion is the strongest indicator yet that he’ll run.
“We know who is running, they’re just doing everything but coming out and saying so,” said Andy Smith, director of the Political Center at the University of New Hampshire.
Romney held a conference call with 245 of his top supporters Thursday and told them that unlike his failed 2008 run, he won’t be announcing until later in the cycle, according to a Romney campaign source.

Yesterday Mark Steyn did another ‘if we hadn’t had’ with Jumpin’ Jim Jeffords and some Teacher’s party?, which I was following intently until I almost backed up into a tree. Anybody else listening to that?
He has the support of the GOP ruling class. The little people who don't support him don't exist in his world.
Karl Rove’s unbalanced actions have demonstrated that he has some major issues with women.
His misogynism might be driven by rage against his ex-wife or it could be closeted homosexual conflict or both.
But his rage against women has made Rove unbalanced and unstable. I expect Rove’s backer will start deserting him as his madness progresses over the next year.
You never step into the same election twice, though.
It’s not at all clear that Romney will be the only establishment candidate running. A series of lesser lights, such as Barbour, Pawlenty, Daniels and Thune may be competing for Romney’s establishment bloc and they will win a good share of it away.
If conservatives coalesce behind Palin while the RINOs splinter, it will not be a cakewalk for Romney.
Maybe the Romneybots will hold their breath until he announces.
He is so YESTERDAY. I wanted him in 2008, considering that the only other choices were McCain and that criminal coddler. But that was 2008. Now, for me at least, it’s DeMint.

Joking aside, that one sentence is the real problem that we all have with mitty, no core values, not now, not ever.
I was trying to follow Mark yesterday, but was at work and couldn’t afford more than half-an-ear half the time. I didn’t hear that particular bit, so it’s up to someone else to help you out.
My take-away is that the whole 2008 debacle was an example of divine providence. You can’t really predict what is going to happen even if you have all the data because some little something will come along that overturns all the predictions (that little “something” would in this case be, obviously, Sarahcuda). It’s the Christian version of the butterfly effect and it means we always must have hope, no matter how bleak it looks. Obama continues to be hopelessly tone-deaf to reality and the Dems re-nominate the ultimate loser Pelosi to ‘lead’ them. Sort of like a bunch of lemmings voting for the one who just jumped off the cliff as their standard-bearer (then again, what do I mean ‘is like’: it IS).
McLettuce, as you call him (a new one on me, but I’m otay wid it), was actually just who the Pubbies needed. He displayed the very essence of establishment RINOcity, giving the American people a standard by which to measure those who had insulated themselves from consensus reality and now operated from within a sinecure. Nobody else in the country has such assured safety and so we get the business end of the fatuous proposals they casually think will solve all our problems.
The TEA Party was, as you say, the direct result of this. Many Democrats, from city board member on up, got the business end of this little development. In my own state of NC, we actually overturned Democrat control of the state in both houses for the first time since 1898 (when Wilmington went up in flames). That’s revulsion against a political party that has been the definition of politics in the Carolinas for decades. No longer. The only question is whether the Dem lawyers here will be able to throttle any redistricting attempts in the courts, which are still populated by Dem-leaning judges. We managed to get a number of Rep-leaning judges elected in the current cycle, which diminishes the probabilities but there will still be a battle.
I don’t like to quote Hannity much, but he’s right about this: we’ve only won the first skirmish. The real battle now lies ahead, as I’m sure you very well know. If I’m telling anyone, I’m telling myself and just trying to convey where I stand because I’ll try to be here, adding my two cents to the verbal campaign to get our beloved Federal nation back on the right track.

On the concerns of Florida and the Ruling Class, just look to Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio in addition to the other top races of Scott vs. McCullom and whatever his name was vs. Bondi. Except for South Florida, the establishment was dealt a punishing blow in the primaries that extended into the general. Virtually all of the non-establishment candidates are now going to move into office come January. Hopefully, the same will be the case for our city races in March and April.
You might be right or it could honestly be a case that Rove is Machiavellian to his core and believes only in power-politics. People like Sarah do not play such politics, but simply proclaim truth as they understand it. It;s the Cincinnatus approach and uttely opposed to Machiavelli. Rove only plays the odds, Sarah couldn’t care less about the odds. They would never play well together no matter how their other characteristics relate.

You know, early in 2009 when the GOP seemed to be on the run, when they were so demoralized they thought they had no choice but to give O everything he wanted, when I think some of them thought the GOP was over, I said then that just about anyone could be the next president if they would just step up and fight. Whatever their past failures, whatever their past baggage, whatever their past indiscretions, if they would just fight it could be a new day for them.
And who stepped up, but the lady from Alaska. None of the guys I expected to step up, did. She did. They waited until after she landed the first blows and took the first brickbats in return, and only when she made it politically safe to stand up did any of them stand up. And some haven’t stood up yet.
The list of leaders and fighters in this party is very short. She is on that list, and Romney most assuredly is not. He wants to be president? Good. When did he get in Obama’s face? When did he take Obama on mano a mano? I don’t seem to remember it and no one else does either. Romney is one of those Repubs who sees this as a fight against other Repubs to get to the brass ring. Palin and DeMint and a very few others always saw O as the one they had to beat. Which is why one of them will be president, and Romney won’t.
I would cut my legs off first if I had to vote for Romney. I understand his campaign manager is Jane Fonda, but I could be wrong.

I despise Romney. In fact, I would vote for Obama before Romney.
I would rather vote for someone that is honestly a liberal lunatic than one who is either in denial or who is outright lying about his stands.
I spent years under this dope as Gov. What I got from it was Romney care.
