Representative John A. Boehner, soon to be the Speaker of the House, has pledged to fly commercial airlines back to his home district in Ohio. But that does not mean that he will be subjected to the hassles of ordinary passengers, including the controversial security pat-downs.
As he left Washington on Friday, Mr. Boehner headed across the Potomac River to Reagan National Airport, which was bustling with afternoon travelers. But there was no waiting in line for Mr. Boehner, who was escorted around the metal detectors and body scanners, and taken directly to the gate.
(snip)
And so on Friday, he did. But not without the perquisites of office, including avoiding those security pat-downs that many travelers are bracing for as holiday travel season approaches.
Michael Steel, a spokesman for the Republican leader, said in a statement that Mr. Boehner was not receiving special treatment. And a law enforcement official said that any member of Congress or administration official with a security detail is allowed to bypass security.
The appropriate security procedures for all Congressional leaders, including Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, are determined by the Capitol Police working with the Transportation Security Administration, Mr. Steel said.

NB: Michael Steele is on the left. Michael Steel is on the right.
Boehnor travels with a Capitol Hill Police security detail, they routinely by-pass security at any airport they fly out of.
NY Times knows this, all media knows this.
Yes, NY Slimes doing what it does best: sliming a Republican. They could have followed any Democrat Senator to the airport, but that wouldn’t have served their purpose.
I suppose they are struggling to expose duplicity...or even worse hypocrisy. That’ll only happen if Boehner comes out in favor of the status quo.
Who gets to feel up Pelosi? He deserves a raise.
This is an outrage. What applies to the tax payer should apply to everyone. Start giving these dolts the treatment us “little people” get and things would change in a heartbeat. The reason that jackass has a security detail is because we pay for it. This double standard has got to change.
And he's soon-to-be third in line for the WH...
Something fundamentally wrong here.
If I am not mistaken, Boehnor now has a Secret Service detail protecting him because he will soon be third in line for the Presidency — exactly the same reason that Pelosi has such a detail.
I doubt the detail is very happy that he wants to fly commerical.
He will be given the Oath of Office if Zero and Veep Bite-me blow each others brains out in January, but the Grey Lady thinks he should go through the junk fondle just like everyone else?
In that case Zero should be frisked, too.
In other words, Pelosi and Reid have by-passed security all along, but it only becomes a story when it happens to a Republican.
Let me explain something to both of you: We’re #ing tired of the excuses granting the elite privileges while the rest of the Country is getting screwed on a daily basis.
The fact this tidbit was published by the Slimes is irrelevant to the fact that Congress DOES NOT RELATE!!!
Next time Boehner, stand in line like a ‘regular guy’.
Nov 2nd was day one of an eternal battle.
I believe Boehner will be 2nd in line to become POTUS. Bite-Me is first, John is second. I believe Dingy Harry is 3rd in line.
The depths of special interest and political entitlement delusion are breathtaking.
That they can justify it and deny what is blatantly obvious to anyone with an IQ above that of an ice cube, ........
What is wrong twith that? This is called profiling. What threat does Boehner pose?
Are they related?
Boehner committed SUCH a sin at the airport...whereas Charlie Rangel “only” committed a bit of fraud and small-time stuff over the years.
Their sense of priorities just sets my hair on fire. Of
course, it’s done on purpose, but still........
I don't think that my employees should have any greater perks than I do. Sorry. That opinion applies to health insurance, private cars with drivers, and anything else.
Before placing him on a pedestal, remember, he is your employee. And both he and his detail should have to take the darned blue line to Reagan the same as the rest of us...and then go through the grope line like the rest of us.
And the same for Soetoro, Biden, Pelosi, and the rest of them. They aren't our rulers, they are our servants.
So the Times headline could have been:
“No one gets to touch Gop’s Boehner”
