The number of people subscribing to US cable television services has suffered its biggest decline in 30 years as younger, tech-savvy viewers lead an exodus to web-based operations, such as Hulu and Netflix...cable operators were hard hit, with subscriber numbers falling by 741,000 the largest decline in 30 years.
The figures suggest that cord-cutting one of the pay-television industrys biggest fears is becoming a reality as viewers drift to web-based platforms.

Anybody know how this works?
I cut the cord twelve years ago. Since then, every time I see TV I know I made the right decision. With a few exceptions, it’s complete dreck and is a propaganda tool to influence the dumbed down masses. FR is far more entertaining.
I get my football fix from:
http://www.veetle.com/
Monday night football beamed in from Denmark, with Danish commercials, which are entertaining in themselves.
There are also old TV shows, Fox News, and movies - all free.
That’s what I do.
Dedicated PC attached to my TV.
BT, Hulu, Surf the Channel, and Youtube.com/leanback.
I really dont need anything else. As long as I can get to episodes of Ghost Adventures and Man Tracker, I’m ok.
Thanks for the link. I need to make the time to find alternatives. I cut my landline several months ago and decided cable would be next. No more than I watch tv I can’t justify the expense. Rarely is anything worth watching. I’d rather read or surf the web.
BT means bittorrent. You can catch Foxnews on justin or ustream.
Aside from the gay agenda content, it might also have something to do with the fact the TV screen is half full of signs, logos, and moving promos that are so distracting they ruin any good show.
Yeah, I stepped up in packages at DISH so I could get Nat Geo , now I found out that without bothering to tell me, they yanked Nat Geo out of the package, but so far won't give me my money back.
I'm not techy enough to figure out how to get FOX and ESPN to my gig screen in the living room via my computer....but when I figure it out, I'm off DISH for good.
Dish has no concept of "customer service."
That same neighbor downloads ALL shows from EZTV.IT. Funny that they nab ever show in America from Italy. Why would u watch a show on THEIR TIME? Just DL, store in laptop and watch anytime from your laptop.
Try this site it streams about anything you could want to watch www.justin.tv News, Comedy UFOs, Science, Space, Tech, Ancient Aliens, History Archaeology, Cryptozoology,Ghost, Sci Fi. the Strange and Weird , it may take you awhile to find your way around but if you signup for free you can favorite your channels
Thanks, like I said I’m intimidated by electronics. Can this be streamed to my tv through my computer? Where can I go to educate myself?
Thank you!

Even the old laptops from 2006 have a VGA port and they’ve worked too. This year alone, laptops now have an HDMI port built in because of the Hi-definition push of 2 years ago. If you have a hi-def TV and a 2010/09 pc/laptop, it could have an HDMI port on the sides so simply just attach them.
If no HDMI, the VGA ports on both TV and laptop/pc will do. I learned all of this stuff from a chatty clerk from Best Buy. There’s also a box 9I forgot what it’s called) where the pc controls every appliance that is connected by wireless to the box. Stuff today...
Uh-oh!
We have DirecTV, and when they recently made a minor billing error, in atonement they gave us 3 free months of Showtime.
Why does anyone pay for Showtime? The only decent thing they have produced in recent memory was four seasons of “The Tudors” and we waited until they came out on Netflix.
Such a vast wasteland.
Wondering who is your provider. I have comcast and they are raising my TV/internet to $170/mo. Dec 30th. Chicago area.
I haven’t had cable in years - probably never will again. Going on my first year without the boob-tube at all. hard at first but now I hardly miss it at all.
In general - here is the easiest way.
Most new big screens have a monitor (or VGA) input.
Most newer laptops have a monitor (or VGA) output and a wireless network connection.
1) Connect laptop VGA port to Big Screen VGA port with a commonly available .
2) For sound to the TV, connect a sterio-to-RCA cord (mini-sterio-jack) into laptop and (red/white) RCA cords into TV input.
3) change TV to monitor the VGA input.
Your laptop screen should display on big screen fairly nicely and Laptop sound should play through the TV speakers.
You may have to adjust the laptop screen resolution and/or the TV display settings to make it look nice.
Older TVs it’s almost impossible and not worth the trouble.

Good luck.
Thanks so much you two. I think I’m in business with my laptop. I’m going to play around with this over the weekend. Appreciate all your help and advice!
Try this one also:
Just came across it today. Lots of old TV shows, and newer ones. Bat Masterson?
“I get internet, phone, and 200+ chan tv and DVR for 110/month.”
“Wondering who is your provider. I have comcast and they are raising my TV/internet to $170/mo. Dec 30th. Chicago area.”
I’m with TimeWarner and have their internet, phone and digital cable and pay $158/mo including all the stupid taxes.
I’d like to save some money but I’m not willing to make a change at this time.
