Your man is an establishment moderate

If Haley Barbour is a moderate, then so is 90% of the Republican Party.

that is calling for a surrender on social issues

No, he said that running on social issues would not gain Republicans any votes in 2010. And he was right.

with almost zero showing as a presence for the primary.

The primaries are more than a year away. Lets see where his presence is if and when he runs. Better yet, lets see how things stand after a debate or two.

Palin is the primary front runner

Sorry, Romney is the front runner based on the vast majority of polls in the early primary states, with Huckabee in second.

In a recent series of state-by-state polls by PPP, of the 18 states polled, Palin and Romney each led in 6 states, Huckabee led in 4, and Gingrich and Pawlenty each led in one state. Neither Barbour nor Demint were among the eight candidates included in the poll.

In no state did Palin poll higher than 25%. Perhaps most telling, she came in 4th place in Alaska behind Huckabee, Gingrich, and Romney. Not a very good sign when one of her worst showings was in the state where votes know her best.

In short, she can hardly claim to be the "front runner".

while also being the favorite of conservatives

She seems to be getting about 25-35% of the conservative vote in most polls. Also, about 40% of conservatives think Palin is not qualified to be President according to a recent CNN poll. While she is certainly popular among conservatives, she is a long way from being "the favorite" of conservatives to be President.

and you are trying to knock her out of the race

Do you really think Artemis Webb or anyone else on Free Republic really thinks they have the ability to "knock her out of the race"?

that is some serious business there.

This is serious business, but your post is a joke. Forgive us if we don't care to have Palin rammed down our throats.

No, Palin is the primary front runner is what Gallup and Rasmussen show, and Barbour did call for a surrender on social conservatism as he agreed with Mitch Daniel’s call for a “truce” on social conservatism. Barbour also seems to be distancing himself from the conservative movement and the tea party as he embraces the moderate establishment.

I never said that you guys could knock the top conservative out of the race, I said that you were trying to.

““They’re not running for anything,” Barbour said of Palin and Beck. “I don’t know what all they’re talking about. They draw huge crowds, and enthusiastic crowds, but what somebody is talking about that is not directly related to campaigns, then I’m sort of not paying a lot of attention.”

“But if somebody goes to campaign for governor candidate x, I would hope that somebody would stay focused on the issues that matter to the campaign: jobs, the economy, taxes, spending, debt, deficits,” Barbour continued. “You run down rabbit trails, you’re wasting— you’re using up valuable resources that could be used to talk to people about what they care about.”

When asked about comments by Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, a Republican, that said the GOP should call a “truce on the so-called social issues” to focus on fiscal matters, Barbour said he supported the sentiment.

A candidate’s stance on abortion “ain’t going to change anybody’s vote this year,” he said.”

Excuse us if we don’t buy into Barbour’s call for conservatives to surrender, and for a “truce” on abortion in 2012, as he runs towards Mitt Romney and the establishment.
