Why the Democratic Party Cannot Survive
American Thinker ^ | November 17, 2010 | By Monty Pelerin

After the election two years ago, Time Magazine questioned whether the Elephant had become an extinct political animal. The most recent election raised questions as to whether the Donkey should be deemed an endangered species. Questioning either party's ability to survive is reasonable, and it helps sell magazines. However one or two elections are not sufficient to life-death assessments.

Political parties are not immortal. They are born and eventually die. Survivability is dependent upon Darwinian adaptations rather than a genetically determined lifespan. Actuarial analyses can be reasonably attempted if they are based on longer periods.

Enormous change in the American landscape is coming. The "pendulum theory" of politics -- one party disappoints, is removed, and then is returned when the other party disappoints -- is too simplistic to capture major trends. Peggy Noonan's recent take is an example of such analysis.

Why did the progressives select a ‘donkey’ as their symbol? I have always wondered if they were not picking a ‘religious’ symbol pretending to be Balaam’s ass???

Here we go again. The Lame Duck. Instead of working on the Economy they are going to try to legalize all the illegals for votes in 2012. They must be wiped out. These people are insane fanatics intent on one final Obanzai charge.

I refer to it as a braying jackass, seems more descriptive to me.

Why the donkey?

Freudian slip, no doubt, because socialists are jackasses!

I said back in 2008 that the Democommies were going to go, “A Bridge Too Far” with their socialist program and the blowback from the Patriots would crush them just as surely as the SS Panzer divisions destroyed the British airborne in Holland.

Looks like I was right!

It will take another election to drive them out. Along with being broke. Socialists with no money are not an easy sell.

There is nothing Democratic about the Democrat/Marxist Party.

As much as I’d like to see the Donkeys disappear forever, I’m afraid I’ve lived long enough to see wonderful victories such as the last election, and awful defeats.

While it seems as if we’re invincible now, it was less than two years ago that we we clobbered. It can change again in two years. Don’t think so, but it could.

I don’t see the unions disappearing anytime soon, nor the dependent class, so I’d say the Donkey is for the time being, immortal....

Not to Pee on the parade to much but you all do realize that the American public has a very short memory and unless this next generation is educated well enough in less thatn 20 years we will try the “progressive” experiment again with a new name.

Rubbish. The Democrats survived *losing* the Civil War only to win big politically.

They’ll be around for almost as long as people are willing to lie to themselves and to others.

Worldwide and not just from within the U.S., leftist activist judges (including areas where they can't be voted out by voters), the MSM, the entertainment world, leftist teachers who practice political indoctrination at any schools at any level, most social workers, leftist churches, union bosses, most trial lawyers, and all leftist special interest groups are all doing their very best to keep leftist politics alive, in the U.S. and worldwide. Lots of what leftists control, worldwide, are in jobs that are not electable jobs, and serious, foolproof, and successful plans, still, need to be created to change all of this leftist dominance from within non-electable worldwide positions, too!

Yes and yes. But just as can be demonstrated throughout history when the ‘we are gods’ progressive/liberal/socialist/communist/marxist/etc., get power they always do so by lies and deceit. So historically speaking given what this animal has represented and to whom, I am curious how these ‘gods of the state’ today not only how they present their animal of choice, but deep beneath their layers of deception how they view their symbol.

Thank you very much for the link. How very interesting that old Teddy was called the ‘lion’ of the Senate - dressed in a donkey costume. I wonder if he was aware of this cartoon???

“I don’t see the unions disappearing anytime soon, nor the dependent class, so I’d say the Donkey is for the time being, immortal...”

I agree, but on both fronts they’ll probably be reduced somewhat. The private sector unions are disappearing (hence the urgency of card check and the implied thuggery that comes with it), while membership in the public sector unions (which are a permanent fixture) will slowly (temporarily) decline during our economy’s “correction” as policemen, teachers, firefighters, and government workers are cut back.

As far as the dependent class is concerned, their votes are contingent on free goodies, and they’ll be pared back as well during the “correction”. The Dems will be around for awhile, but they’re going to have to fight for every election.

Right on, Ronbo......

Somehow in all this some Freepers are forgetting that you’ve got to get to the origin of things for them to be destroyed or die.

Until our brain-washing educational system, that pollutes little minds from kindergarden through college, higher education that is totally controlled by Marxist/atheists, and the media become the opposite (it will never happen), they will keep pumping out an overwhelming percentage of little Marxist/atheists.

This is only one small battle won in a huge war, for which we should be grateful, but not crow.
