PROVO Did unreported factors contribute to the demise of Mitt Romney's 2008 presidential campaign?
How did the news media cover the 1967-68 presidential campaign of his father, George Romney?
Two research projects presented to an audience of more than 100 people at BYU's Mormon Media Studies Symposium recently compared the two Romneys' campaigns.
BYU professors John Gee and Louis C. Midgley titled their paper, "Under the Media's Nose: Overlooked Factors Undermining the Presidential Campaign of Mitt Romney.

#1 factor. He’s a flip flopper of the kind not seen since John Kerry
1. He’s not a conservative.
List finished.
I don’t really care what caused his political demise. He would have been worse then McCain...and that’s saying something.
Mitt
I think it was the “sacred underwear”.
It goes back to this:

George Romney: “When I came back from Viet Nam, I had just had the greatest brainwashing that anybody can get when you go over to Viet Nam.”
Good grief. It’s clear that Romney’s Mormon faith played a role, but to blame it on “evangelicals” overlooks the fact that (i) he’s a RINO, and (ii) some Repubs probably realized that the secular left and mainstream media would absolutely crucify him for his faith if he was the nominee against their sainted Obama. Every LDS I’ve ever know has been righteous - it isn’t “fair” that his faith plays a role, but to blame it on evangelical Christians is a joke. And this comes from someone who isn’t one.
Hell at least McCain had a few core beliefs (granted not many). Romney is the worst example of the cynical man’s definition of a “politician” I can think of. He’ll say anything to any group to get elected.
Well, I think the fact that Romney supported abortion, gay marriage, and government healthcare while he was governor of Massachusetts, and then proceeded to lie about it, might have something to do with it.
I think his Mormon religion probably did turn off a lot of Evangelicals, which added to his problems. Romney himself never stopped talking about it, which certainly didn’t help him.
But, frankly, he is NOT a good Mormon, either, if Mormons are pro-life and pro-family, which on the whole they are. Not as bad as Harry Reid, who should be an abomination to Mormons, but trending in that direction.
He’s not a person who tells the truth. And he used to post here under Mitt Romney.
So he probley still lurks around.
Romney was the key factor to his defeat. The same will be true if he runs again.
Those that ignore the will of the conservative voter...... will likewise lose.
The American patriots will refuse any candidate picked by the MSM and the RINOs...... such as Rove and his ilk.
“Now Mr. Romney, you have thirty seconds to rebut... yourself!”
His liberal Governorship of Massachusetts and Romneycare.
Any Republican that can be elected in Massachusetts isnt much of a Republican.
To me the bottom line is that very few people genuinely trust Mitt Romney.
#1 He ran in the wrong party.
Me: Pro Life, Pro Family, LDS.
Not a fan of Romney. Won’t vote for him even if we are from the same faith. I think this study is pretty narrow-minded, and that’s saying something considering my sister teaches at BYU.
Well, let's see...
He used his executive power to create "gay" "marriage" in Massachusetts.
He pushed through socialized medicine, complete with $50 co-pay taxpayer-funded abortions.
He completely homosexualized the public schools and state government.
He banned guns.
And then he claimed he was a conservative.
American voters have been known to be taken in by liars, but some things are too far-fetched for even the most gullible among us.
Heh - your reason needs one more line: “The voters who would have been taken in by his lies were already in Obama’s camp.”
