Good grief. It’s clear that Romney’s Mormon faith played a role, but to blame it on “evangelicals” overlooks the fact that (i) he’s a RINO, and (ii) some Repubs probably realized that the secular left and mainstream media would absolutely crucify him for his faith if he was the nominee against their sainted Obama. Every LDS I’ve ever know has been righteous - it isn’t “fair” that his faith plays a role, but to blame it on evangelical Christians is a joke. And this comes from someone who isn’t one.

His liberal Governorship of Massachusetts and Romneycare.

Any Republican that can be elected in Massachusetts isnt much of a Republican.

We had plenty of "christian" "evangelical" bigots right here on FR who trashed Romney's Mormon religion and him as a member of the faith. Don't know whether they convinced anyone, since they are not very literate or articulate, but rather just spewers of hate. Nevertheless they were and are out there.

Every LDS I've ever known has NOT been righteous. They certainly weren't righteous in their actions, although they could be very polite when they stabbed you in the back. And they needed the imputed righteousness of Jesus, not the earned righteousness demanded by Joseph Smith. And this also comes from someone who isn't one.

And it’s absolutely fair that voters consider religion sizing up the man. Religion speaks to character and core values.
