The LAPD remains under federal oversight on the issue.
DOJ over-reach: where and when will it end?
For police, profiling is a more valuable weapon than their guns.
Take it away and we have a serious problem with law enforcement.
The first time they did it, all the brothers showed up with their coolers and trotlines and cleaned them all out within a week. The next year the conservation commission handed out a bunch of tickets to people illegally fishing and illegally keeping fish.
Congressman Lacey Clay immediately went after the Conservation Commission for racial profiling because it just so happens that the only people doing anything illegal were the brothers.
Now the Conservation Commission no longer attempts to enforce fishing regulations at Forest Park.
It's racist to expect brothers to obey the law.
Time to pull over Zsa Zsa Gabor again.
i guess if they had known, they would have lied?
Great Scot, I'm not even a policeman and I know that they have to deal in reality instead of Berkley hippie “oh, how I wish it was” PC tenured socially undeveloped over-educated Left of PolPot professorism.
By no means are Hispanics, as a demographic group, near to being in the majority here, either.
Since this is the case, it must be difficult for LEOs not to racially profile.
My nephew, age 18, drives his grandfather's big luxury vehicle. He doesn't look Hispanic but is pulled over frequently by police. Is he being profiled because he is young and male? Of course.
They need a new demographics model. Just how many white folk still remain in LA? They need to be careful not to violate the Endangered Species Act.
“As many as 250 profiling complaints are filed every year, the newspaper said.”
So roughly one new racial profiling charge is made every 1.5 days.
With all the arrests made by LAPD in a year, that is an incredibly low number. The Justice Department is grasping at straws these days.
I don’t see anything racist about racial profiling.
If I see a white person driving through ghetto streets, if I was a cop I’d figure there was a good chance they were either lost or looking for drugs.
That’s racial profiling, but its also just plain old common street sense. When I was driving a cab back in the day here in Pittsburgh at night, I’d drive a black passenger to the Hill District a lot more quickly than I would drive a white to the same destination.
LOL!
Blue hair lady pull overs only!
Next season, stock the lake with carp and snd snakeheads.
As you know, with this and the Consent Decree and Special Order 140(?), the feds have had their boot on the neck of LAPD ever since Rodney King instigated a high speed chase.
Oh, yes I would expect that to be the case. They are EVERYWHERE, and perpetrating an unprecedented crime wave. One only needs to view America's Most Wanted every week, or tune in the local news, etc., to know this. It seems to be their "game," a proof of machismo or whatever, and the opportunities are many in the U.S.A.
The Mad Hatter runs the DOJ. We’ve got to wrest control back.
The LAPD does a fairly good job IMHO.
I agree. I watched the full tape, and King never obeyed orders to stay down on the ground. He continued to try to get to his hands and knees to stand up. What’s more, his companion was taken into custody without any altercation at all. If this was about race, he would have been given ‘the treatment’ also.
King kept moving his arms near his head, trying to get up. Batton blows intended to take his arms out from under him wound up hitting him other places, namely the head.
If the officers had been trying to hurt the guy, they could have broken about every bone in his body. That they didn’t is somewhat indicative of their intent IMO. They showed more restraint than I would have.
The Feds can stick it where the sun doesn’t shine as far as I am concerned. And if I thought an officer was being unfair to a Black or Hispanic, I’d be just as defending of them as I was these officers.
I agree with your assessment of the King incident.
It was a long and dangerous chase, and the adrenalin was racing through everyone.
Therefore, the restraint shown by the officers was admirable.
Also, if truth be told, there are plenty of black and brown citizens who appreciate seeing black and brown perpetrators taken down and if that involves profiling, so be it.
That’s a good point. True. Thanks.
